I don't think we should be making a big deal about him endorsing McCain (which I honestly don't get anyway- I would have expected him to endorse Sen. Clinton).

The fact is, Lieberman isn't a Democrat. He lost the nomination in 2006, and ran on his own ticket. We kicked him out of the party long ago.

Who cares what he does? Stop letting other people act as if he is a Democrat. He's just not, and hasn't been for a long time.

2. Joe Lieberman (Traitor-CT)

"we" didn't kick him out of the party. He's a weasel who changed parties because Ned Lamont kicked his ugly ass.

9. I second your motion! This Lamont supporter is glad that our state party stripped Joe of his
party affiliation. So the bastard wants revenge, does he? Well, good luck, dude. You are such toast here in CT. No wonder you've practically moved to D.C. Nobody here wants to see your ugly face...

11. Here's something
http://www.thestamfordtimes.com/stamford_templates/stamford_story/327355671630911.php

STAMFORD — Sen. Joseph Lieberman has registered as a Democrat in Stamford.

While he's registered as a Democrat his wife Hadassah and daughter Hana registered as unaffiliated voters. It's a switch for Hana as she had been registered as a Democrat in New Haven while Hadassah was registered as an independent.

The Liebermans moved back to Stamford in August to be closer to family in the area and in New York City. Born and raised in the city, Lieberman left in 1960 to attend Yale University in New Haven and had lived there ever since.

Alice Fortunato, Democratic Registrar of Voters in Stamford, said the registrar's office contacted the Liebermans after discovering they had moved back into the city.

4. Thanks so much for the gratuitous Clinton insult.
Is there a 12-step program for that addiction?

12. Yes, he can.
There shouldn't be any question about that.

However, by endorsing a Republican, his committee chairmanships should be taken away. This will cause him to bolt for the Republican caucus to get them back. Result: the Democrats lose majority control of the Senate.

Will this happen? Your guess is as good as mine. But this would give absolute leeway for a full court press for the then-minority Senate Democrats. The only thing that would happen is that Bush would get the recesses he needs to make end-run appointments around the Senate. The courts would get stacked with as many hard-core Republicans as Bush can squeeze out of Liberty University. Is that something we can live with?

Face it. Until the Democrats get a larger majority in the Senate, Lieberman has them and us over a barrel.

13. Why should his chairmanships be taken away? He's
not a Democrat.

Lieberman is part of the enemy. We can't punish him for disloyalty- we can't EXPECT it from him.

16. I've been looking into this and we couldn't if we wanted to, anyway.
The organizing resolution names names. The good news is that he can't flip the Senate to the Republicans under the organizing resolution as it stands, but neither can his spots be taken away. He can't be touched until the 111th Congress.

I understand your point. I was just hoping the charade could be fully dispelled. It can't.

17. The fact that he isn't a DEM is enough reason for me to yank his committee gigs
They gave those to him in hopes of securing his allegiance. That was wishful thinking and it hasn't really panned out.

Dump him. He is like Rudolph and the elf on that kids' show, wants to be independent together. At his convenience, of course.

Stop letting him into meetings. He is not our friend.

14. What I'm saying is Lieberman doesn't speak for us anymore.
The flip side of that is that he can do what he wants. We shouldn't be expecting anything from him- and, if we do, the implication is that he does speak for us.

So let him go.

15. Correct. He is in no way a Democrat, and as you note, hasn't
been one for years.

I'm not at all surprised, however. I guess he still thinks McCain has a shot, and he's been sucking up to him, hoping for another vp chance, for years.

I expect we'll hear some sanctimonious (his specialty) words from him about how he's overcoming our horrible national obsession with "partisanship". And how we all ought to congratulate him for being the bigger and better man, above the fray and given to wisdom and foresight us mere (partisan) mortals cannot possibly possess.

In other words, he's still just worshipping at the shrine of Joe. Must be getting lonely there, though.

still back him and the decisions he has made...I wonder if any of them feel any remorse..
