In the first six months of Bush's term, they sought more death penatlies than in the entire 8 years of Clinton's term. Don't believe there is a difference, try that on for size. BTW congrats to Corzine and New Jersey. First state in 30 years to eliminate the death penalty.

On edit This was the Practice (the predecessor show of Boston Legal) which is set in Boston. On the show a kid murders a woman while trying to shoot a drug dealer. MA doesn't have a death penalty. The kid gets transferred to federal court. The statistic sited is about federal death cases sought.

I would have thought state courts process the vast majority of capital offenses. Who is "they"? I don't understand your OP, to tell you the truth.
