9/11 Hero Whose Son Went to State of the Union Dies

WASHINGTON (AP) -- College student Ceasar Borja Jr. wanted to attend the State of the Union speech to represent his father, a former New York police officer who worked at ground zero and lay in a hospital bed with life-threatening lung problems.


Only hours before the speech, the 21-year-old found out he would stand as a symbol of his father's sacrifice not just for the speech, but for the rest of his life.

A devastating phone call during dinner Tuesday night told him his father had just died.

Even though he got the news less than three hours before President Bush's speech, Borja insisted on honoring his father's memory by going ahead and attending the prime-time address. He had been invited by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., a longtime advocate for Sept. 11 health issues.

``He passed away right when I'm down here fighting for him. This is the most I've ever done for Dad,'' the Daily News quoted Bo

7. It was reported in the M$M before the event

and it was also reported before the SOTU that Borja's father had died at about 6:30 PM, but that he would still be attending the SOTU.

Bush has high paid handlers who are supposed to make sure he knows this stuff. It was a major snub not to acknowledge the guy.

9. I wasn't aware that it had become common knowledge. Of all people the Shrub should

have acknowledged was Borja.

I take this all very personally. I live north of the city and the day after 9/11 our schools had clothes drives for rescue workers. It was oddly cold for September and we sent lots of warm garments to keep them comfortable. They truly are heroes.

Yesterday, I had a discussion about Shrub with my UPS delivery man and the conversation turned to the rescue workers. He knows several that are severely ill now. BTW..he hates the Shrub and his evil minions and cannot understand how stupid people could be to follow him.

Let's not forget the America's Fool, Guiliani. Under his fine "leadership", these guys were led to believe that there was no significant danger at the pit.
Not to mention the - at that time, very unpopular - mayor's decision to establish a command center at the WTC bullseye.
Guiliani is a fake - we should make short work of him as a possible candidate for '08.

Bitterness and misery trickles downward. We can't relate to the plight of other Americans anymore because we live in a property rights addicted country. Believe me when I tell you that the law rewards hostile neighbors. The law allows you to be mean, deceitful, devious and a scamming liar to get land. And when the average citizen gets wind of this, bitterness sets in. Everybody involved in this little sting loses their attachment to "community." Thus, the person who has no regard for his neighbor when he adversely possesses land, couldn't give a shit about our soldiers dying overseas, or someone dying at ground zero. And the victim of the adverse possession is just too jaded and distrustful of our laws to get too emotionally involved.

Trickle-down misery. No one to turn to.
