Christian Newswire: Jesusland Sees Romney as a Rogue

Governor Romney fast and loose with the truth
Contact: David Jeffers, 850-565-0993, jeffers221@bellsouth.net

MEDIA ADVISORY, Dec. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- It seems as though Governor Mitt Romney is one who likes to distort the truth, be less than forthcoming, and all at the expense of Governor Mike Huckabee. It has been said that desperate times call for desperate measures, however, those in Jesusland will not be desperate enough to vote for Romney, according to David Jeffers, author of Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland. "The threat of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama becoming president is not enough to make the majority of evangelicals to support a deceptive candidate," Jeffers said.

"Governor Romney is trying to deflect attention from his past by distorting Huckabee's" Jeffers says. Jeffers seriously doubts that Jesusland can get behind a candidate whose past record clearly shows a less than conservative side and one that is unpalatable to evangelicals. Jeffers questions: "How does an evangelical vote for a candidate who changes his beliefs when it is politically expedient?"

Jeffers outlines Romney's latest deception at his blog "Salt and Light" (http://davidjeffers.thevanguard.org).

Jeffers encourages those in Jesusland to contact the Romney campaign and to demand that Romney cease and desist his deceptive campaign ads. "Evangelicals need to hold all Republican candidates to a high moral standard; we want to hear how you will lead this country, not how much better you are than your opponent. Trust the voters to make the decision; we are tired of the mudslinging."

1. Yikes -
...""The threat of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama becoming president is not enough to make the majority of evangelicals to support a deceptive candidate," Jeffers said."

The THREAT of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama......? That people feel that way is frightening, and much more of a threat than either of these two people becoming President.

4. I don't understand the Fundies' fear and hatred of Hillary.
Is it some deep-seated psychological thing? Is it a remnant of the equally insane hatred for Bill that we saw play out in the 90s? Are they afraid of women?

How can they see such a huge THREAT in a right-leaning, bland candidate like Hillary? What do they think she will do? Take all their guns? Ban the Bible? Send Republican voters to Iraq? Respect the Constitution? What?

It's nuts.

2. "Evangelicals need to hold all Republican candidates to a high moral standard"
After 8 years of BushCo and his corrupt rubberstamps, this matters NOW?

3. I Love The Smell Of Burning Repugnican In The Morning...
I'm listening to some Huckster fundies calling in on C-SPAN...it makes ya wanna cringe to listen to these people. But I know I'm not alone...a majority of voters in this country react a similar way. I have no fear of the Huckster, and enjoy all the shit flying that is destroying the remnants of the Repugnican party.

Yep, the Fundies have risen up...this wasn't how the script was supposed to be. Fundies are supposed to hop on church buses, vote and go back and pray. They're to be agitated for elections and ignored the rest of the time. They are to be manipulated and never given any real say or power. The Huckster is turning this meme on its head.

No matter who "wins" the nomination, it will alienate a significant bloc of voters. Sucks to be a Repugnican in '08
