is that all attention is focused upon Huck's religious/social beliefs and none upon his economic position, which is rather working class oriented. This displays what I consider rather screwed priorities.

Not that I advocate voting for Huck, but this blinkered reaction says something rather fundamental about liberals and explains the inability to regain the allegiance of the "Reagan Democrats".

I chose that screen name so that folks like you might feel clever every once in a while.

Economic justice, health care, shelter, food on the table, that's what it's about. Perhaps you don't have to worry about such things, but most people do. It is the first and foremost concern of politics. By making this primary concern one of a grab bag of "causes" it's power, which gave the Democrats a lock for decades, is fatally diluted. That is stupid politics.

This is not to say that one doesn't care about the occupation, the environment, the rights of gay folks or anything else, far from it. But when you give the appearance that economic justice is of equal or less consideration than the people's basic needs then your gonna lose those people, as has largely happened,
