What if your life depended on it ?
What if your life depended on your vote for the Presidency? If you picked the wrong person, you could die? If that were the case, who (or is it whom?) would you vote for?

If it was of that utmost importance, who do you think could best do the job? Who would you trust to do what needs to be done?

You may be one of those folks that are dependent upon a small government stipend to buy food and heat? Or you may be one of those folks that are afraid we are going to be attacked by terrorists and killed, every single one of us? Or maybe you are one of those that are concerned about the economy and the possibility of a depression or recession? Or you may be someone that worries about a catastrophic health problem and that you cannot afford it?

If it was that important, who would you vote for? Obama? Hillary? Edwards? Romney? Ron Paul? Huckabee? Or someone else? Which one would be most likely to save your life?

This next election could be that important.

3. John Kerry
I have a 21 year old son. I voted as if his life depended on it. John Kerry is still the best bet to quickly end the war, resolve the ME problems, get serious about climate change, and address all the economic and social issues as well.

4. Kucinich
The only progressive in the race. The only one wanting a department of peace, that recognizes labor and wants to get us out of Gatt and nafta .Dennis is the only one who will make way for TRUE single player national health care ,one that cuts out the greedy insurance thieves, and gives all of us the same level of care the congress gets.Unlike the others Dennis won't shred the social safety net,or fuck over the disabled either.Dennis gets the reason for PROGRESSIVE taxation,Dennis is the only one who will stop the occupation, fueling the 'terrorism'..And Dennis is not afraid of offending the hawks or the christian right, to make the country better regardless of what the greedy the corporate or the church thinks..Dennis also agrees gays deserve equal rights as straights and supports gay marriage without flip flopping over it like the other so called dem candidates.

My life or at least the quality of it DOES depend on who gets elected.. I want Dennis because every other candidate IS DEFINITELY right leaning to the point they are not even real democrats as far as I can tell. And the other candidates do not want to understand how it is to be disabled and poor as dirt and wary of the ways the fortunate screw the less than fortunate. They speak to the middle class and up, I am invisible and therefore won't be represented by obama or hillary or any of them really except Kucinich.

5. Rep. Tom Udall, New Mexico
Udall has my complete trust. He was AG in New Mexico in the 1990's-- always the champion of the residents of New Mexico, he stood against special interest groups, domestic violence and political corruption. He's authentic-- a thinker who has a heart of gold. His head is in the right place on energy, the middle class, Iraq, mining of public land as relates to health issues and uranium, etc. There could be no one more capable of turning our country around than he. I wish he'd run instead of Richardson...and I do think highly of our governor, but Udall has it together on so many levels.

6. I don't need a president to save my life.
Your premise is "If you picked the wrong person, you could die" and "who do you think could best do the job?". These are vastly different choices.

9. I think for some people, it may be a life or death vote...
For me, it is about our Constitution and our laws. I could never vote for Ron Paul but Chris Dodd is the only Democrat even standing up just a little bit for our Constitution. Without our Constitution, we are all on our knees.

7. if it has come to be that bad, you are already forsaken.
in fact, you should vote for the worst to get the fall to the bottom over with, bring upon the collapse, and be ready with a plan for the reconstruction.

if we're truly at that point then we have far bigger problems than can possibly ever be solved by playing politics as usual.

so are we at that point? there's few places where you can legitimately justify voting against your best interests as your best option.

if this is the "in extremis" it has failed as a hypothetical. because in such an impossible situation the best choice is to take your tormentor down with you -- and, if you're lucky enough to survive, start afresh. if you die, well, you were going to die anyway, but you spared millions more by the sabotage of the system.

die standing over live kneeling. the agony is shorter.

8. If you truly believe that this election is a matter of life and death
I suggest you make two phone calls.

First to Al Gore, and make your case to him.

Second call to Bill Clinton. Tell him to take his wife out of the country until 2009.

As for me, I'd vote for Al if he was in. Or Howard Dean if he was. Neither of them are. So I'm going with Kucinich for the primary. And anybody BUT Hillary is negotiable in the General, should that fail.

but this country WILL die with 8 more years of this kind of bullshit. And I will not give that bullshit the label of "Republican" because it has nothing to do with a political party. It has everything to do with a fucked up, corporatist, elitist mindset. And some with that mindset have a (D) after their names, though they should not, because no Democrats should have voted for them in the first place.

10. Kucinich is the only candidate for change.
As much as I like Edwards and Obama, the Dems have not fielded any progressives besides Kucinich.

The "safe" vote for one of the top-tier candidates will leave us little better off. If the DNC would embrace a true lefty, Kucinich could lead us away from the cliff, rather than merely slowing our headlong dash over it.

The Democratic nominee will win, whoever s/he is. Let it be a great one.

My primary vote has been rendered moot by my supposed representatives. Like a three year old, I only get to vote for "milk or juice" in the general election.

18. JOE BIDEN in a heartbeat Period!
As much as I'll stand firmly behind BO, JE, HRC, and DK as the '08 DEM nominee in the GE, Joe Biden is the the only person I don't feel the need to cross my fingers and hope for the best when it comes to proven leadership.
