Charlie Gibson's Person of the Week: dude who goes to the airport every day (!) to welcome troops home.

3. I saw it yesterday.
Though I am just guessing that we disagree on the policy that put those soldiers there, I respect the man a great deal. I think it is a great thing he is doing. It has to mean so much to those returning troops.

5. I get the same feeling,
but it doesn't really matter. It seems to mean a lot to those troops coming home. And to the people themselves who are helping out!

6. Absolutely.
It choked me up. I can't argue with that kind of heart. :-)

7. Agreed,
But see the above posts. When the one soldier starts to cry, and the Korean War veteran talks about coming home to complete indifference, it's a helluva poignant moment.

I took a class on the Korean War in college and learned that Korean War veterans came home to a country that barely even knew that there was a war going on. Maybe Truman and Ike kept it on the DL because people were still reeling and exhausted from WWII?
