2008 Economic Preview: Not Good
... So to sum up, housing is still a wreck, the consumer is still under pressure from high food and gas prices, the Federal Reserve is hemmed in because of commodity inflation and corporate profits are decreasing. This is not a good picture going into the new year.

1. And the damage continues
Heh. A moderately informed person I talked to yesterday called this "a correction."

I responded that it was a liquidity freeze, and quite deliberate.

2. My relative in te Post Office told me last night that this as been the lightest Christmas
she has ever seen. There has been no real difference in her work-load this season, and usually this is is the time of year that none of us even try to talk to her.

4. Wasn't sure if it was just us
but my husband and I noticed a sizeable drop in the number of Christmas cards we got this year. The only person I know who sent more cards did so because she drastically cut back on the list of people with whom she exchanged gifts.

5. There was no Christmas in the Greyhound house this year.

3. The good news is that corporate profits are decreasing the bad news is that corporate profits are
`decreasing. We know the political "leaders" in both parties think corporate profits are the most important thing in the world. The only answer? Lower wages of course.
Never look at the corporate "leadership" share of the blame.
