Excuse me, which polls show that Americans are majority anti-abortion?
I'm stunned by this article that declares Mike Huckabee a moderate, and then declares that his supposedly radical positions are being anti-abortion, which most Americans are anyhow?

Most polls I've seen have most Americans as being pro-choice - heck, even Republicans support choice.

Can somebody help me out here? Any legitimate polls?

This is the article:

Here is what bothered me:
>>>
On social issues, of course, Huckabee is more clearly on the right, but most Americans, too, are anti-gay marriage and anti-abortion.

1. Polls serve the power of suggestion. They coax the public, not reflect the public's stance

3. I know most people support at least *some* restrictions on abortion.
Relatively few people want it completely illegal, and relatively few people want unfettered access (and even fewer still want the government to cover the cost).

Here's a narrative:
http://www.publicagenda.org/issues/overview.cfm?issue_type=abortion
(I'm not sure how reliable these stats are--but it's what I could find that wasn't clearly from one side or the other.)

People who are anti-choice will use these statistics to say, see, we're in a pro-life country...only 8 percent of people want abortion completely legal, and those are the crazies and everyone else is at least a bit on our side.

People who are pro-choice will use these same statistics to say, see, we're in a pro-choice country...only 25 percent of people oppose abortion even in cases of rape or incest, and those are the crazies and everyone else is at least a bit on our side.

4. It's semantics
He'll hide behind the old thing that no one really "supports" abortion, or that most Americans wouldn't have one themselves. (Notice I say Americans, not women).

Huckabee is as slick as they come.
