This is one barbaric planet inhabited by the most barbaric
species in the universe.

I am ashamed.

1. Oh come now, that's like saying America's the greatest country on Earth
without having left Nebraska.

3. But isn't what people do "natural" by definition?
Just asking.

4. I hope what's going on in this world isn't natural
The evil people behind wars and tyranny HAVE to be some abberant strain of the species.

9. Well if they are, they've sure been around for a long time.
Maybe having some percentage of individuals like that is inherent to the species. That's sure what it looks like, surveying history.

14. They may be aberrant, but the rest of us seem continually unable to stop them.
They marshall us like ants, and routinely turn legions of people who would otherwise have been decent into murderers.

See the first link in my signature line. They may be aberrant, but the weak-minded people who allow themselves to be reporgrammed to commit or ignore atrocity by their Noble Leaders are legion.

They may be aberrant, but their weak-minded followers are by far the vast majorty,a nd if not, at the very least a substantial minority.

It is, unfortunately, human nature. We are way better then we once were.

If humans are the most barbaric species in the universe, which is the most civilized species? :hi:

8. So far as we know, it's the only species in the universe
We may be the most civilized of all, which is definitely a frightening thought.

11. I've been feeling the same way
I really truly hate my species. We deserve to die off. I just wish we weren't taking so much other life with us.

I don't get it. How can people be so damn evil and stupid and self-destructive? Why do they enjoy causing pain to other living beings? Why do they get off on violence and death? Why are they so intent on destroying everything that lives? I mean, you would think that they would at least care that they themselves might be affected by radiation and climate change and violence and poverty and stuff, but apparently they're cool with their own destruction as long as most other life dies off too.

I just can't fathom the ignorance and apathy and greed and pure evil that I see on display every day. Not just in politics and the MSM, but from normal every day people. It's not just the people in power who are pure evil. Powerless people abuse and kill each other and their pets and other animals and see it as their right to drive a huge gas guzzler and buy stuff made by slave labor and judge and hate and dehumanize others for skin pigments or reproductive systems or sexual orientation or place of birth or current residence or where they like to eat or what music they listen to or their hobbies. They enjoy it and celebrate when others suffer and die.

Humans are monsters. And it wears on you and tears you down until you find yourself reflecting their evil in a sort of fun house mirror way. All the evil piles up on top of you until finally some drips into your own soul and you find yourself writing stuff like this.

And I don't want to be like this anymore. I want to be like I was before I saw what was really behind other people's eyes, before I knew that the main features of the species were ignorance and hate and fear.

I want to withdraw again into my own little green and golden universe where all is love and empathy and compassion and the world sings with beauty and truth and good.

But no, stupid fucking humans have to foul it all up.

15. What a stretch
I can see the genesis of your feelings, but you take it way too far. There are really only a minority of people who are guilty of all the violence and bloodshed and criminal behavior. But boy, they sure mess things up for the rest of us. You can't condemn all of humankind for the actions of a few.

"I want to withdraw again into my own little green and golden universe where all is love and empathy and compassion and the world sings with beauty and truth and good." Where exactly is that universe? I'd like a map. Would you prefer to live as animals do, always fearful of attack by another animal, spending each day of your entire life trying to find food and avoid getting eaten yourself? That is not really a beautiful compassionate place. In fact, it's pretty damn brutal and short.

Haven't humans done some great things? Music, literature, art, good food?

12. Humans may be intelligent, but we never learn.
Centuries of war, theft, torture, persecution, religious violence, pogroms, ethnic cleansing, assasinations....

To be fair to the species, the great majority just want to live a peaceful life, with food, security and family.

It's the vicious criminals, who inevitably rise to positions of power, who destroy our lives with their arrogance, greed, blood lust and egregious stupidity.

Past the point of caring I think I'm just going through the motions playing out my string, maybe it would be better if we just went ahead to the grand annihilation get it the hell over with.

20. And that might be the reason that humans ultimately annihilate
themselves, becoming the species with the briefest tenure on Earth of all species that have ever lived.
