Bye Bye Christains

BAGHDAD, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Iraq's dwindling Christian population celebrated Christmas Tuesday -- but in much smaller numbers than previous years.

Some Iraqi priests estimate as many as two-thirds of the country's Christians -- about 1 million people -- have fled since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in 2003, The New York Times reported Tuesday. The homes and businesses of Christians have been frequent targets of insurgent attacks.

Sacred Heart church in Baghdad attracted 120 people for Christmas Eve Mass Monday, down from 400 in 2005.

"Last year it was full," said parishioner Yusef Hanna. "So many people have left -- gone up north, or out of the country."

1. I dined with a iraqi christian sunday.
she and her family have lost all their lands, most of their relatives, and ran to the US (luckily, a family member was a US citizen)

without hesitation, she states that things were far better there under Saddam, than under Bush. Note she used the term, "under Bush". her words, not mine.

she and her family believe that no less than 1,000,000 deaths have taken place, and 3 times that left as refugees. injured? twice the million deaths, at least. She loves america, americans and wishes a long, deadly, incurable, painful disease upon Bush, even though she remains a practicing christian.

3. Iraq is the cradle of so much western history
and this conflict has demolished it. For those who have studied the history of Western religion and culture, there was no place in the world like Iraq. Nowhere better to study archaeology, so many ancient, significant places. Now so much has been blown to bits that it is lost to future generations. Not that this is more important than the loss of human life, but it is just one more way that the Bush administration fails to respect anything that has a kind of value other than cash.
