WASHINGTON DC -- "This is a very dangerous moment for the world," said Kucinich, Ohio's 10th congressional district representative, after hearing of former Pakistani prime minister Benzair Bhutto's death.
"The United States must change its policy direction in the region. It must stop adding fuel to the fire," Kucinich said.

Bhutto was assassinated Thursday (Dec. 27) in a suicide bombing that also killed at least 20 others at a campaign rally.

The death of the 54-year-old charismatic former prime minister threw the campaign for the Jan. 8 parliamentary elections into chaos and created fears of mass protests and violence across the nuclear-armed nation, an important U.S. ally in the war on terrorism.

"Benazir Bhutto represented a courageous effort to bring principles of liberty to Pakistan. She was truly dedicated to the people of Pakistan," he added.

Kucinich had met with Bhutto several times over the years in both Washington DC and New York City.

6. She knew she was taking a risk to be in public
but that is true for people with moral courage. Eventually she came to a point where the things she believed in were more important than the risk, and she refused to let fear control her actions.

10. She was on the news in October at the last assassination attempt
The news showed her family--husband and children. They had been so worried about her when they heard the news of the explosion and had not heard from her.

I really feel for her children.

8. Dennis gets it.
It's too bad that such rare sanity is marginalized by the criminally insane and those who admire them.

23. He knows what he's talking about
and he probably knows a whole lot that he's not saying. He has kept very close track of what Bush and the neo-cons have been doing in the ME. He knew nearly 2 years ago that the US had troops secretly crossing into Iran.

He knows a lot that he's not saying, so listen carefully and believe what he is saying. I wish I knew, but I trust him.
