Something is happening in Iowa for Biden
I have a friend who is a volunteer for the Obama campaign and she's been doing calls to folks who have participated in the caucuses before urging them to attend again and putting in a pitch for Obama. Now here's the interesting thing. She says, according to what people have told her and what they have told some of the others who have been calling that it's very tight between Edwards, Obama and Clinton but she also says that alot of people have been saying that they may caucus for Biden--that it is possible that he could even come in third and that one of the above might come in fourth--that he seems to be catching on. On top of this according to the questions she asks Edwards is the second choice of many of the people but Biden is running second among second placers.

I found this very interesting. Just thought I would share.

1. I think people might, and should, give Biden another look
Especially in light of recent events. He's clearly the most experienced in foreign relations of the bunch.

2. I wonder if today's events in Pakistan will help Biden
because of his foreign policy experience. Certainly can't hurt him.

36. SharonRB,
its sad to say this, but I think it will; he won't brag, but in these circs he'll let the facts shine thru and that will help.

5. Be careful.
Some here who support another candidate will say that Bidenites were praying for today's assassination.

7. Thank you so much for sharing this! More people DESERVE to hear Biden -
and the other second tier candidates. At this point, nothing is written in stone and people should have the opportunity to choose from ALL available candidates. This is a crucial election - and as stated, especially now we need to seriously consider Biden's established relationships with the leaders of other countries.

I'm going to write some Letters To The Editor to some Iowa newspapers and online sites, to suggest that people take a few moments and watch a video or two. I'd encourage other Biden supporters to do the same, if they're so inclined.

Thank you again for this encouraging report! :headbang:

9. On a day like this- you want to hear from the experienced Senators
and nobody has come across better than Biden on foreign policy. He is a smart guy. Dodd might benefit from this too.

10. Thanks for sharing...
but I think he will do better as the week goes on, even on caucus night....I think people will start to really focus on someone with the experience, going into an uncertain time.

12. this is encouraging
Short story here on 2004.
I went to the caucus ...decided a couple days before that I was going to caucus for Edwards. All I had heard about was Dean, Clark, Gebhardt, and Kerry. I was nervous I might be the only one there for Edwards. When I got there I met several other supporters who thought the same thing based on the media. Before the night was over half the people supported Edwards.
I truly think something similar can happen with Joe. I think once people get there and see he has support....they will move to his corner. The media does have an influence...don't kid yourself.

18. Bellator... welcome to DU!
Why did you change from Edwards to Biden?

:hi:

I have a question- how many hours does a caucus last, and do you get to drink coffee/hot chocolate during the process?!

20. short answer
I was swept up in the Two America's speech he first used here in Iowa in 2004.
Since then I have been a bit disappointed in his not following through with his promise in that speech. He has been preparing for this run....and I understand that. But...that made me question his motives....my opinion only.

I have met Joe too....I trust Joe..I believe Joe....and this has been an easy choice for me this year. I'm not ready to take a chance on a maybe....I want a certainty.

Coffee and Hot chocolate yes....but mostly I remember cookies!!!

The caucus will last usually from 7 until nine. It can be shorter and there is a time limit...I don't remember that though. So results will be reported over a period of time. As soon as the caucus is concluded the results are called in...

ended up not so short...:)

14. Biden has my vote for most likely to surprise in IA
I'd love to see him bump Hillary out of the top tier. I know it is unlikely, but the the surges and surprises seem to come from the candidates MSM is ignoring.

Then I'd be completely comfortable with the "top tier". And then, I hope Biden goes on to surprise everywhere else, too. It might be unlikely, but one can hope!

who said that he will exceed the "expectations" and if he does he wins--they call that baloney! I hope Biden pulls a big surprise.

27. I was so disgusted with both of them, I was yelling at the TV...
I am so sick of people dissing Joe. They said the same thing when he ran for senator in 1971, and he said back then, he knew he could win, and he's been saying that all along now. He's also running the same kind of campaign this time too. Under the radar....

If anyone deserves, and has earned his place in the WH, It's Joe Biden.

16. I Hope To Hell He Keeps Gaining Traction.
I've come to now recognize him as the all around best candidate by leaps and bounds. I think if people were exposed to him more and got to listen to him more, they'd gravitate towards him in a heartbeat. I would love to see him get more recognition.

17. I wonder whether his dry wit would be a good match for Huckabee's style
Huckabee scares me the most; he seems appealing and could get, if not the "I could have a beer with him" votes that Bush got, at least the "I could hang out with him" votes--if he were the candidate (as I suspect he will be) I would chew my nails to nubs until the election. But Biden's funny too, and certainly more experienced.

29. My wish is
that he comes through with a strong enough showing to at least cause more people to take a good look at him. I believe when you truly compare him side by side with the others, he's a strong candidate. If the electorate is given a decent chance to gauge his qualifications equally against the rest of the field, and they still decide to vote differently, then that's fine by me. I've already made up my mind and he's won my vote.

When you really start paying attention, start looking at policy positions and experience, Biden comes up the winner every time.
