Soon we will be in 2008 .
Do we look at this as just a number like we were told the death of the troops were .

Everyone always seemed to have new years resolutions , most people usually broke every single one of them .

I have the feeling that crossing into 2008 there will be a tripwire in the path of many , after all it's just a number , a date , something to keep track of time . Does it mean that all of 2007 will be swept under the rug , do we continue on were we left off with the same battle of no health care and a crappy economy with a shrinking dollar and the globe heating up another degree or two .

I wonder if there is any reality left , from where i stand it is nothing more than a never ending string of lies where one thing happens and it is erased the next day by something else as we continue to plummet into the depths of no return .

Many are so focused on the 2008 elections and even take the time to listen to these insane so called TV debates while the earth whithers away at their feet .

In 2008 all the box stores will still be standing , the Iraq occupation will still be going on and the deaths will continue to mount up , people will continue to lose their homes and jobs only to find a tent city to dwell in . New Orleans will still be peppered with FEMA trailers as the condos and casinos strout up of the now toxic earth .

The gas prices will continue to rise and the tons of pollution will continue to fill the air .

Bush and Cheney and Condi and all the others will keep spinning the lie machine , flipping the eight ball for the best none answer to the best none question and the mass media will stand by their side drumming up and dumbing down .

2008 , it's just a number .

1. I think we need a bit more optimism?
;) I remember the Reagan years and the despair I felt over a pending 'nukular' war. It never happened. Bill Clinton was elected shortly their after and a collective sigh of relief was felt across the nation. 2008 will be a year of needed change. And, change happened quickly.

4. Read "The Conscience of a Liberal" by Paul Wellstone.
He was an eternal optimist and I share his optimistic political views. While, it is both sad and ironic that he died mysteriously, I feel his 'truth/inspiration' live on.

Peace

2. sorry I can't be optimistic
the way they have been acting I can't believe that they will just walk out of the white house.

I think they mean to stay.
