the release of the hostages; that it was Carter who did that, not his dad. (Of course, it was his dad and friends who delayed their release until 30 minutes after he was sworn in, but at least Jr. knows where the credit for the release lies.)

Unlike John Wayne. Ronald Reagan served to the fullest extent possible, Reagans eyesight was very bad and he had to lobby the US Army to put him on active duty, during WWII. Of course at the time he was a Democrat.

50. I will
because it was. Like him or dislike him but DON'T denigrate his military service just because it wasn't on the front lines. Reagan didn't have to join the Army Reserves in 1938 but he did, Reagan didn't have to server during the war( legitimate medical reason not to) but he did, Reagan didn't have to remain in the Army Reserves until he was passed over for promotion and forced to resign but he did.

Ronald Reagan was apparently a pretty good horseman who genuinely enjoyed his time at the ranch. He liked to do his own grooming and tacking up and had friends in the horse world that were totally outside his usual range of contacts.

I can't stand the man's politics but I share his love of horses.

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” - H.L. Mencken
