I doubt that Rudy will get the repuke nom, but how weird would it be if Rudy, Hillary, and now Mikie B???

"New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, a potential independent candidate for president, has scheduled a meeting next week with a dozen leading Democrats and Republicans, who will join him in challenging the major-party contenders to spell out their plans for forming a "government of national unity" to end the gridlock in Washington."

You wanna turn off Middle America, make it a race between New Yorkers.

Fine with me if the Red Staters don't show up at the polls.

2. I'd love to see the South have to choose between three NYers, being
denied their usual demand that the candidate act and talk JUST LIKE THEM and cater to their cultural norms. Hee!

4. Serious Article; Serious News
I agree that Ghouliani is now a long shot at becoming the nominee of the Bushite/radical Republican Party.

However, the Washington Post article shows that an independent presidential candidacy in 2008 is a very real possibility.

My take is that if the Democrats are so soulless as to actually nominate Hillary (that is, wrap-up the contest by Super-Duper Tuesday), then a Bloomberg candidacy will be inevitable.

How would I handicap the 2008 race with Clinton, Bloomberg and any Republican? If Bloomberg spends a half billion or more dollars on his campaign and has a VP like Chuck Hagel -- I'd give him the edge. In that scenario the Republicans really get creamed and may have a tough time surviving as a major party.

Frankly, if the Democrats go with Obama or Edwards (I have no preference), I think the rational for a Bloomberg run is diminished ... that's just my political analysis of the situation.

5. In that case, I'd be very grateful for the write in option on the ballot.

6. Yup. Those three New Yorkers and no Mario Cuomo? Disgusting.
It'd be time to write in a Buckeye. :silly:
