As soon as we know if the Dem Challenger is Steve Novick or Jeff Merkley, I'm sure the Oregonians will be shooting up some flares.

Let us know what races are most critical to you too!

9. Since Feinstein and Pelosi are very senior, there's no movement there.
But, we will be needing some help preventing the Republics from changing the way our electoral votes are apportioned. They are DETERMINED to steal CA and are still gathering signature to put their measure on our ballot.

finding someone who has video Skype. I can't believe how easy it is to have 2 way video and audio. Can you IMAGINE how we could use this? I'm not talking YouTube, where my alter ego would be lured, but talking across the world about what matters!

HAPPY DU YEAR!!!

19. To work on my shortcomings & be an even better person in 2008
Doesn't mean I am a bad person by any means but I always can find ways I can improve myself in many ways. Also, to read more and I have started buying books in audio and have found can get them read quicker as can listen while working out at the gym & other places.

Nothing drastic.

Wish the best to you sfexpat; you have a very happy, healthy, prosperous & great New Year.

"I think that every human being has an innate sense of "I". We cannot explain why that feeling is there, but it is. Along with it comes a desire for happiness and a wish to overcome suffering. This is quite justified: we have a natural right to achieve as much happiness as possible, and we also have a right to overcome suffering. The whole of human history has developed on the basis of this feeling. In fact, it is not limited to human beings; from the Buddhist point of view, even the tiniest insect has this feeling and, according to its capacity, is trying to gain some happiness and avoid unhappy situations."

52. Provide, Provide. (A self important soup)

The witch that came (the withered hag)
To wash the steps with pail and rag,
Was once the beauty Abishag,

The picture pride of Hollywood.
Too many fall from great and good
For you to doubt the likelihood.

Die early and avoid the fate.
Or if predestined to die late,
Make up your mind to die in state.

Make the whole stock exchange your own!
If need be occupy a throne,
Where nobody can call you crone.

Some have relied on what they knew;
Others on simply being true.
What worked for them might work for you.

No memory of having starred
Atones for later disregard,
Or keeps the end from being hard.

Better to go down dignified
With boughten friendship at your side
Than none at all. Provide, provide!

54. A long time ago, Skinner said the secret of DU was that we didn't do anything.
I think he must have been joking because DU does SO much. We are funders and writers and animators and artists and active citizens that hold our representatives to account. We are working people and activists and knitters of family and community and analysts of spun media.

Do you have any doubt that the other side wouldn't like us to just shut up, stop talking to each other and power down?

Let's deny the other side their wish.

Happy New Year, Juniperx.

58. Happy New Year, sfexpat2000!
They'd freak out if we shut up:)

I think we should start threads daily about how we have sock puppets on "the other side" and how stupid they all are over there... they are so stupid we wouldn't really have to go there and harass them or anything, just say we did. hehe! Reminds me of something my mom used to say when I'd tell her let's do that or this... she'd say, let's not and say we did:)

Frankly, I don't have enough self control to stop posting here altogether, I just feel like I need more sunlight in my life. I don't post on weekends going on about six months now. Maybe I should be satisfied with that as a baby step:)
