Open Letter to Edwards "They're going to come at you with all barrels blazing"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/earl-ofari-hutchinson/open-letter-to-john-edwar_b_78902.html

"John Edwards, you better have a strong stomach and a steel rod in your spine. You're going to need it because it's going to get ugly, and you're going to be the target of the ugliness. You hung tough, didn't fade in the polls as some expected and hoped, and now you are poised to make a big showing in Iowa. Now that that's the case, they're going to come after you with all barrels blazing".

My opinion is that Edwards will capture Iowa, perhaps convincingly. Once that happens the corporatists and their media henchman will turn on him like a pack of pit-bulls, just like they did to Howard Dean in '04. Edwards has one important element in his favor. As an experienced trial lawyer who has fought the corporatists time and time again, he likely anticipates this and is ready to fight back. Let's hope so.

1. I wish Edwards luck...BUT
IF...If he wins he needn't worry about being swift-boated etc...because IF he wins Hillary gets the nomination....and I for one will be packing my bags to go to Canada because the Democrats will lose the White House and maybe the congress.
I hope you Edwards supporters realize what you are about to do.
Edwards is a good man, but will nEVER be the nominee, he doesn't have the support in the big states nor the money to fight the DLC Clinton machine.

20. I hope you Edwards supporters know what you are doing?
I am not going to call names like you or be crass and stoop to your level.
I will leave that to the DLC'ers Wolfson, Rove, Hillary and the ReTHuglicans

Best of luck, our country is going to need it!

13. We Democrats never look at the BIG PICTURE
You can all be idealistic about an Edwards win, but none of you are looking past that to the REAL world.
EVERY,,,yes EVERY one who knows anything about what is going on with these races will tell you that IF Edwards wins Hillary gets the nomination.
I wish I was wrong, because I think Edwards or Obama would be great, but it isn't going to happen.
The retched vicious DLC'ers are sitting on the sidelines laughing their asses off at us progressives.
They will have won again, this time they will become stronger, This is the Stoyer and Emanuel wet-dream.
It is not John Edwards fault or Barak Obama's , but splitting the anti-Hillary vote was a real gamble, one in which at the moment seems to have been very unwise.
We will see in a few days.

21. It's not nice. Or mean. It just is.
Some posters state opinions like they are facts when they are merely opinions.

6. He also has experience. He has ran for President.
And he has ran for Vice-President. He knows whats coming, and has known since 2004. I think he knows very well what he is doing, and has been very careful.

He can do it! Go Edwards!~

26. Well I certainly don't think it does.
Why should you?

I like to hear all perspectives. However presenting your opinion as a fact just makes it seems like you don't know the difference.

8. I have thought about this quite a bit and
I'm sure the Edwards team has also. They would have to anticipate this. I think he is better equipped to fight it than most others. That is my sincere hope.

I'm not so clear about Edwards winning being a Clinton win...

I think Edwards will continue to woo voters and pull them over. He got me, and it was not so simple. I typically don't like pretty boys and/or Southern accents. (I know, I know... and I went to college in Missouri too!)

It's what he's saying that got me. His message got me past the looks and accent. The Edwards we are hearing from now (as opposed to 2004) is more serious and focused. Stronger. More driven. The times have changed and he has risen to the occasion. Very appealing.

I look for Edwards to kick ass in Iowa and every state after. He has a message that goes directly to the heart of workers.

Then Corporate America starts taking it up the ass for a change, and 'We The People' have someone to fight for us.

if Edwards wins Iowa he'll be placed under the microscope like never before. I don't think he'll benefit from it either. just my two cents.

27. *none* of the candidates will benefit from smearing by the media
and the media will surely be in cahoots with CON smear-machine--just like with the Swift-boating of Kerry.

30. I agree that the DLC/Media/RNC, etc. etc
will go after Edwards with both barrels. I do NOT agree that Edwards can't handle it. I do NOT agree that the people who support him will take it without protest.

The meme that x-candidate shouldn't be the nominee because the Republicans will go after/Swiftboat/lie about him or her is ridiculous on its face. The Republicans will do that to ANY Democratic nominee. Oh yeah, that's a great way of choosing a nominee: Who do the Republicans/MSM like most? Or at least, hate least?

And, are we going allow those people to choose our nominee for us, by default?
