He said a few months back he wouldn't pursue prosecution

About like Gerry Ford re: Nixon

"We have to put the past behind and move the nation forward.

Fuck That!

These criminals are responsible for over a million civilian deaths

and that's just the very tip of their criminality

I won't be happy until those fuckers are behind bars

preferably at The Hague.

If we had prosecuted Nixon and his henchmen,

we wouldn't have these ghouls in charge now.

2. agreed
it's because we let the cockroaches of the Nixon era (Cheney and Rumsfeld) crawl out from under the rock instead of rot in jail to go on to be the scourge of our generation.

Obama is an idealistic ass hole.

i'm sorry a black man who insults the gay community had a single vote tonite in Iowa.

3. then you're not ever going to be happy
as it's very unlikely that G-Dubs and crew will ever be punished.

I'm pretty much with Obama here, I'm much more concerned with what we're going to do to fix things than taking vengence on those who fucked them up in the first place.

4. It won't be up to him....
Pursuing prosecutions will be up to Congress. If he becomes Pres. and hands out pardons, well he'll only have one term!

it's bound to get some play, and don't forget Clinton will pull out all the stops! Sorry Clinton, but you now have to realize you DIDN'T have it wrapped up! AND we need to contact MSM and let them know that we "see" them for what they are, and "we the people" aren't going to let her get, another "free ride!'

10. I could have written this post myself
You said it all. When I heard Obama say this I swore never to vote for any spineless candidate. Did the repugs let Clinton off the hook? NO, they carried it as far as it would go, Impeachment. Bush and his thugs deserve nothing less.

11. Do you have a cite for that? That has been claimed here before...
But I've never seen anyone post a cite of what Obama actually said in that regard. It seems to me, if true, that this would be oft quoted. Just to be clear, that is one quotation mark, followed by what Obama actually said, not someone's paraphrasing of what they heard, followed by another quotation mark. Preferably with a link to where that quote is sourced.

12. Maybe he could help the country more if he stayed in office for...
awhile. If he goes after them and hes not part of the corruption, he will most likely ummmm, not finish his term. Think Pakistan, the corrupted elite political people don't like it when good people try to stop their agenda and start helping the people. If they are gonna be held accountable, it would best to get it done now. Everyone that is gung ho for it, should never stop calling their own representatives and continue to pass the word to more and more people to do the same.

14. EXACT QUOTE w/ LINK
http://obsidianwings.blogs.com/obsidian_wings/2007/10/not-buying-a-bu.html

But, Obama said, he would not use the Department of Justice to investigate the administration if elected. "I don't want to waste time as president spending all our time looking backwards. I want to look forward," Obama said, adding the caveat that if evidence of criminal activity arose, he would expect it to be pursued by the Justice Department.

If? Does Senator Obama not consider torture or violations of FISA to be criminal activity, or does he not believe they happened? What was that stuff about mock drowning being torture & needing to be investigated a few days ago--does he think the Bush Justice Department will conduct these investigations? Does he think that Congress can do so, when the administration just ignores subpoenas?

18. Exact quote, but not quite enough...
The offending quote cited is this:

"I don't want to waste time as president spending all our time looking backwards. I want to look forward."

All the context for that is provided by the linked page, and the caveat is paraphrased instead of quoting Obama. The linked page links to a newspaper article that no longer comes up.

I'll reserve judgment.
