How many communists still remain in the world?
http://money.cnn.com/2005/09/06/pf/taxes/consumptiontax_0510/index.htm

"We have very few Communists left in this world, but there are some," says (congressman Linder).

Interesting article, of which there are many tangents - which I'll post later. Unless you say them first and that's what I was thinking. :D

8. And 40 of them are DU'rs!
The other 8 live in Siberia and pine for the days of free tinned meat.

9. I'm still here!
Just kidding, I'm not actually a communist.

Well, actually, that needs to be clarified, hehe... Pragmatically speaking, I'm not a communist. I'm a Democrat. But I do believe that an effectively classless society with free access to all resources is an inevitable result of incremental progress, unless we manage to blow ourselves up first. I look for the first signs of it to start becoming visible in a hundred years or so, when technology really begins to change the way energy and resources are managed.

10. Oh for crying out loud.
Here is your 'fair tax' quote in context:

"But Boortz and Linder say that all this worry about progressivity at the top is just jealous carping anyway. "We have very few Communists left in this world, but there are some," says the congressman. "

On that basis, as a firm believer in progressive taxation, I am a communist and I suspect that 99.9% of DU also qualifies as 'communist'.

Thanks for polluting my day with 'fair tax' crap from Boortz and Linder.

11. I met three in NYC one night -- protesting the Fla miscounting.
Later accepted an invite to their apt. on Union Square. HUGE framed photos of Marx, Lennon, Trotsky. Very interesting evening. One of these guys had been a party member since the 40s. He said it was hard to find anybody to hang out with these days.
