Now that Tuesday's Circus side show is over, let's march.......
Jan. 27-29 Schedule of Events





Below is a schedule for the events of the Jan. 27-29 mobilization in Washington DC. Further details will be added as they are finalized, so please keep checking back here.


EVENTS ORGANIZED BY UNITED FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE (Please scroll down for information on the Interfaith Service, the Veterans For Peace action on Thursday, CodePink's Walk in Their Shoes installation, and other actions being organized during the weekend.)


SATURDAY, JAN. 27

11am-1pm: Assembly and Rally
National Mall, between 3rd and 7th streets

1pm-??: March on Washington
Exact route TBD, keep checking here for updates

SUNDAY, JAN. 28


9am-12pm: Organizing sessions and educational workshops

12:30-4:30pm: Lobby training
Location: Bethesda Chevy-Chase High School, 4301 East-West Highway, Bethesda, MD


8pm-10pm: Benefit for UFPJ with Holly Near and Tom Hayden
Busboys and Poets, 2021 14th St., NW (near U Street Metro Station). $15 at the door (more if you can, less if you can't)

MONDAY, JAN. 29

Grassroots Congressional Education Day

Veterans For Peace: Defend and Support the Constitution
(Stop The Madness of George Bush)
Where: In the vicinity of or on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol Building, Washington DC (Exact time and place TBA)

SATURDAY, JAN. 27

9am: Preparing Ourselves for Peace Work: An Interfaith Service
Lutheran Church of the Reformation, 212 East Capitol Street NE
Sponsored by the Network of Spiritual Progressives and the Buddhist Peace Delegation. (The service will conclude in time for participants to join the rally on the Mall at 11 am.) Click here for directions to the church.

10am: Women Say Pull Out! Women's Convergence for DC Mobilization
Join Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Congresswomen Maxine Waters and Lynn Woolsey, Rhea Perlman, Eve Ensler, Mimi Kennedy, Q'orianka Kilcher, the Co-founders of CODEPINK and many other amazing women. Other co-sponsors include: National Organization for Women, V-Day, WAND, Feminist Majority, Feminist Peace Network and WATER. Don't forget your PINK!

Where: Navy Memorial, 7th and Pennsylvania NW
When: Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 10am
We will rally at 10am then meet up with the UFPJ rally and march!

12:00 pm: Walk in Their Shoes Installation and Press Conference
Join CODEPINK and Iraqi Voices for Peace to create a massive and powerful Walk in Their Shoes installation. Bring shoes to contribute throughout the weekend! Help create the installation! Meet at 3rd and Madison at 9:30 to volunteer. RSVP and questions to lizkimmerly at gmail.com or 310-460-9082.

1. When are they going to decide the exact route, I wonder?
I'm going with two ladies in their 60's and it would be nice to know how long the route is so I could tell them. Although one of them is more energetic than I am. ;)

Let's all put good karma into getting the real cold air out of DC by Saturday. There is is a cold front coming through on Thursday afternoon. i'd like to have my jacket open so people can see my "IRAQ - because 50,000 body bags from Vietnam just aren't enough" t-shirt.

Bring a sandwich and a bottled water for the walk and dress warmly. I'll see ya there!! :hi:

3. I'm still finding just an assembly area map - not one for the actual march route...
And the forecast isn't looking too bad at all - 50 degrees and partly sunny. For us northerners, in January, that's balmy.
