Democrats Will be Blamed for Iraq Failure if They Don't put an End to It.
We saw yesterday in the Libby trial just how important POLITICS is in this this mal-administration. So much so that they would set up the Vice Presidents Chief of Staff as the fall guy so as to save Rove so he could save the Republican Party. Do the Democrats think that this kind of loyalty will go away?

Do they not think that this Iraq/21,000 more troop buildup maneuver is another way of putting the Democrats in a squeeze play?

Once Impeachment was 'off the table' all bets were off.

NO ONE except Bush* Cheney and a group of handpicked folks believe in this idiot program.

Fund the Withdrawal....NOTHING ELSE IMHO

1. The talking point will be "they've had 2 years to do something"

and fair or not, it will be said

You can't claim that Congress is a co-equal branch of government and then claim the President is preventing Congress from acting....

because if a President is marginalizing Congress then the people expect Congress to STOP that President...

people tend to look at the bottomline....not the excuses why something wasn't done...

and it will be used against the Democratic Party if America is still in Iraq in 2008

2. Just like the Democrats are being asked daily, 'why did you vote for the IWR?'
They will be asked, 'why didn't you stop him?'

And if they don't, they will have no answer.

After four years of war and over 3,000 deaths I don't think there are any

do-overs. IMO

3. We'll be blamed for the failure if we put an end to it as well
If we manage to do it on Smirk's watch, it'll be our fault for not allowing him to finish the job. If we do it under the watch of the next President, so much "the better". Conservative nit-wits will be all over TV, radio, the 'Net and the OpEd pages endlessly repeating "We would have won Iraq except for the Democrat Party". They will go unchallenged, and it will become the CW.

There is no way to avoid this framing until and unless we do something about the current state of the media.

4. Yes, that's true, but lives will not be saved by inaction.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't, I say DO.
