Check out this insanity:

I believe the letter is referring to an article about a teacher who noticed some parallels between the internment camps of WWII and Guantanamo Bay today. Some highlights:

"We live in the greatest country in the world. The students should be learning the following: Japanese internment occurred following the most vicious attack on our country prior to 9/11. Like the current radical Islamists, the Japanese followed no rules of engagement. Kamikaze pilots were as ruthless as the current homicide bombers. These are the parallels to be drawn."

"The students should be learning about the beheading of innocent people, (for starters, Daniel Pearl because he was Jewish); the brutality of these combatants, the mass graves uncovered in Iraq, pictures of the dead Kurdish babies gassed by Saddam Hussein; and exploring the possibility that the caravan seen by the satellite exiting Iraq and entering Syria in the days leading up to the war contained the mobile labs of WMD. Americans do not do these things."

"America is not the enemy. We have liberated more people in the world than any other country and have provided unprecedented aid to those in need. This is what the “children” should be learning in our American schools."

"No doubt Mr. Staub is concerned about our status in the world as well. Suspend American aid tomorrow and see how quickly they love us again. God help America as the enemy is within ... on our televisions and in our newpapers, televisions, courts and classrooms!"

1. Poor Anne Flood of Glens Mills
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 07:32 AM by bigscott
she is a charter member of the 25% that still support the occupant of the WH. I am sure she would be fine if all Amendments to the Constitution (except the 2nd) were revoked permanently.

This is just one more reason I am not all that excited about "bi-partisanship" once the democratic Party retakes the WH, because the other side is populated with fucking wackos like Anne Flood of Glens Mills, PA.

I would love to drive past her house to see if there is a swastika hanging in the window

6. Not sure a response would do any good
But here goes: First, the interment of citizens during World War II was wrong then, and it's still wrong. Second, there is no satellite footage of weapons being spirited out of Iraq into Syria or Iran; that's solely a figment of overheated imaginations. Third, why does the self-proclaimed greatest nation in the world feel the need to launch pre-emptive invasions (what used to be called wars of aggression, strictly prohibited by treaty obligations)? And as for foreign aid, the United States has lagged badly for years in providing monetary aid to developing countries, behind most industrialized countries. The aid that we have provided has been badly managed, comes with so many strings attached, and is applied so injudiciously by government-hating ideologues as to be less than worthless.

But the writer did get one minor item right: The enemy is indeed within our own borders, and resides in the White House, cowering behind the rubric of state secrets and national security to confuse the public and damage our nation worse than any terrorist attack could ever hope to.
