Poll question: Why do you post? (poll)
This is a poll to see why people insist on posting copycat threads, inflammatory threads, inane threads, and stuff that is just.....stupid.

1. I post because I like a good discussion.
And despite conventional wisdom to the contrary -- there are still plenty of good discussions to be had here.

I tend to post more often when I think there is a crack in someone's argument that is worth exploring. If I think I have something to add that nobody else has said -- or that nobody else has said clearly -- then I am more likely to jump in.

2. Ours is a social climate which is carefully managed for the 'right' views to be adhered to
In order to suit the aims of the corporate/state nexus. When elites cannot control by force, they use methods of thought control instead, determining what people think, how they perceive, and so on. So within this densely propagandized atmosphere, it's crucial for people to realize they are NOT alone, share unpopular views, organize, etc. My guess is that many interact online - and elsewhere - for that reason, even if it's unacknowledged.

6. I'll answer that
I have been here since 2001, and I think this is the first poll I have ever done. While my post count is just over 1000, I have read here daily since then, so, on average, I only post every other day or so. Most of my posts never get read because I delete them before posting. I usually take time to reread them and assess whether they are worthy of posting, or if they are just tripe to fill space (this poll may fall into that category). Honest question, honest answer.

4. I scour the board for polls, and tell the author of the OP that I hate his/her poll.
I hate your poll.

5. I don't really.
Look at my post count and then look how long I've been at DU. Much longer than most 1000+'s. :)
