Just breaking with Andrea Mitchell saying Kerry and Edwards never got along.

NBC: Kerry to endorse Obama for president
Democrats' 2004 nominee to throw weight behind Illinois senator
BREAKING NEWS
The Associated Press
updated 10:14 a.m. ET, Thurs., Jan. 10, 2008

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Barack Obama has won the presidential endorsement of Sen. John Kerry, the Democrats' 2004 nominee who lost to George W. Bush.

Kerry, a senator from Massachusetts, planned to announce his support Thursday at 11 a.m. EST at a rally at the College of Charleston, said a Democrat familiar with Kerry's decision. The 2004 nominee was to argue that Obama can best unite the country and has the potential to create transformational change, the person said.

Kerry lost the South Carolina Democratic primary in 2004 to John Edwards, the former North Carolina senator who now is running third in the 2008 campaign behind Hillary Rodham Clinton and Obama.

Besides any potential help for Obama, Thursday's endorsement was a slap at Edwards, who was Kerry's running mate in the last election. The two had their differences during the campaign over strategy and spending. In post-mortem interviews, Edwards said he would have been more aggressive in challenging the unsubstantiated allegations of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the Vietnam War veterans who questioned Kerry's military record.

18. edwars wife has been catty last couple years with kerry.... did you say the same about her
and her comments were direct hits and insults. this is merely kerry chosing a candidate, not saying a thing about edwards. all you edwards fans, (and i can easily vote edwards, prefer him to all the others), are interpreting the slap and dissing kerry easy as pie on emotion

9. If the ESTABLISHMENT endorsing Obama - what CHANGE is he likely to
bring?

Seems to me if the same senators and congressman are endorsing
him who have received a rating of 11% approval by us (think
its down to 8 now ) if Obama
makes president we're going to have more of the same we have
had. No way he
can bring change if every establishment politician is for him.
 And lets not
forget the unforgivable (as democrats)....Obama's support of
Joe Lieberman.

16. What crap.
I have reason to believe that both my Senators will be endorsing Obama; Are you really going to try and make the argument that Bernie Sanders is a corporatist? He's done more for the working classes and poor than JE, by a country mile. And Leahy's no slouch either when it comes to fighting corporate power.

14. Kerry, you suck majorly.
If you're trying to change your reputation as a wimpy sop, this is not the move to make. I like Obama, but this is SO low-class.

21. I never thought Kerry would do something like this. Don't know what to make of it...
:-( And, particularly to do this in SC which Edwards won last time. The timing is just...well..

22. How will this help?
The margin of victory in 2000 and 2004 was about the same for Bush. In all likelihood, the margin will be about the same in November.
