As the mortgage mess grows, we are learning more and more about just how sloppy things were in the mortgage-issuing business as loans were churned out, carved into securities and sold off.

“No one anticipated a day when potentially hundreds of thousands of residential mortgage loans would be modified,” said Alison Utermohlen, an official of the Mortgage Bankers Association who has led the effort to get the accounting rules relaxed.

5. K & R, because there are some
who think somehow that status quo and the reigning dynasties can or will fix this. Get your head out of the past and embrace change, support the man who's message is clear & on target about all of this. Understand the enemy and your choice is clear. Let's get back our checks & balances & regain OUR voice.

Edwards all the way!

7. Edwards NH debate answer
I've been meaning to ask ... did anyone else notice that during the debate when Edwards was talking about corporations, he said "there are some good ones ... like AT&T".

He started to name some other "good" ones, but he was interrupted.

What's this about?

8. Probably relating to net neutrality? But no doubt that's for
another thread. Even "good" corporations are awaiting the results of the pres. race.

10. Edwards mentioned Costco as an example of a good corporation.
AT&T is a law-breaking piece of shit, willing to spy on Americans for The Bush/Cheney White House.

You've got it in the mix with the net nuetrality thing, and there again, AT&T will prove what shit they are.

11. Sorry, but he mentions AT&T as a "good" co in transcript.

<snip>

I believe -- and I believe it very strongly -- that there are entrenched special interests, very well-financed -- some examples are drug companies, insurance companies, oil companies, et cetera -- that stand between America and the change that we need. And I think if you defend the way the system works, it's very hard to take those people on.

I believe -- and it's -- (inaudible) -- these people; I'm 54 years old. I've been fighting these people, these irresponsible corporations. And there are good corporations in America, Charlie. I want to point that out. Good corporations, good employers: Costco; AT&T, for example, is now working to help unionize some of their offices and to bring jobs back. But I want to --

MR. GIBSON: We'll get to the commercials later.

MR. EDWARDS: No, let me -- let me finish this. I want to finish this.

The point is this. I think there are differences between us about how we fight for the future of the middle class. And I believe you have to be willing to take on these entrenched special interests. And I think if you're not willing to do it, it is impossible to bring about the change that the country needs.

12. That's right, I forgot about AT&T's attempt at some good PR.
Thank you.

Edwards has one thing wrong here, to be sure. AT&T as an "entity" considered a "person", is one hell of a lousy citizen.

I wonder if Edwards has any statement out about AT&T and its complicity in spying on American citizens? I don't recall a statement on that, either.

13. That's what grabbed my attention.
I was shocked when I heard him utter those words.

I'm interested in his stance on warrantless wiretapping, too.

14. From his official site:
"Protect Americans' Privacy and Freedom
Our government should protect the privacy, communications, and personal records of Americans—not spy on them without court supervision as the Bush Administration has done. Edwards will end the warrantless wiretapping of Americans' phone calls and e-mails and the data-mining of Americans' communications and personal records, restoring judicial review to surveillance of American citizens. He rejects retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies..."

Some people got all the work others got all the money. We are well into wage slavery. Time for a civil war to put the corporations in their place.

condemnation is evil, were not for sale, and our rates would go up. Right after they won, they asked for a 17% rate increase, has moved to condemn farmland from Lexington to Frankfort, and has put the company up for sale.
