"Fox and Friends" is a two-hour show, but lately they've been having trouble fitting in the big news of the day -- like the Scooter Libby trial.
Libby, on trial for lying to federal investigators about the outing of undercover CIA agent Valerie Plane, was painted as a scapegoat for the Bush administration by his attorney in opening statements Tuesday. But on Wednesday (January 24, 2007) the story didn't make the cut for top stories on "Fox and Friends."
"Fox and Friends" had to focus on the State of the Union speech, but it still spent precious minute after minute discussing a family removed from an Air Tran flight because their three-year-old would not sit down and be strapped into her seat. And it repeatedly promoted a story about coffee and male baldess. Then there was the weekly cheerleaders-gone-wild segment. And, as usual, multiple segments on illegal immigration had to be included. Also wasting news time were two lengthy segments on a bitter divorce in which a Brooklyn, New York, couple's home was split in two because neither wanted to move.
But no time for Libby. No time for telling viewers that the Bush administration threw Libby under the bus because it wanted to protect Karl Rove.
