BATON ROUGE — A lengthy list of recommendations to Gov. Bobby Jindal for changes to Louisiana's ethics laws proposes that most major public officials around the state be required to disclose how they earn their money and what type of investments they have.

An advisory council set up by Jindal to offer suggestions for his first special legislative session — to focus solely on ethics reform — also recommended doing away with free tickets and golf games for lawmakers, banning lawmakers from doing business with the state and restricting the types of free food and drinks public employees can receive.

Jindal intends to call an ethics special session that begins Feb. 10, saying changes to ethics laws are needed to improve Louisiana's reputation around the nation and with business leaders.

1. A few small things

1- Prove how Bush is responsible for the flooding of New Orleans. that's easy to do - Bush cut the levee rebuild / repair budget to nothing to cover the tax breaks he gave to his rich friends.
2- Repeat the feds' mea culpa for the deed
3- Holding Bush to his promise to fix what he broke. And now.
4- Increasing royalties on mineral rights (oil & gas) to the same level (25%) as Texas and other states, so Louisiana will have more money to rebuild with.
5- Refuse to allow any more drilling until the royalties are raised.
6- Raise port duties to pay for rebuilding.
7- Prosecute Vitter & Jefferson right now. Get them both out of office.
8- Rebuild the entire LA justice system, especially Orleans Parish, so criminals do not go free or get favored treatment due to error, social status or bribery. Close the loopholes.
9- Pursue, without prejudice or delay, all corruption charges presently within the system.
10- Finally hire attorneys to prosecute corruption and make sure they are unbiased and independent.
11- oops one more thing: Hire more cops.

3. You must not be very familiar with the history of LA politics

Jindal is a Rove protege. And now that Rove's been given the boot inside the Beltway, he just might view Baton Rouge as an acommodating second home. :scared:
