6. It's about damn time we kicked the corporations out of Washington
DC! It is about damn time we turned this fucking country around! I don't care if we have a black, white, green, yellow, poka-dot colored President! I don't care if we have a man, woman, straight, gay, transsexual, asexual, fucking clone with no genitals at all for President! If we don't wrest control of this country away from the multinational/military/industrial/corporation/cannibals who control it now, we are done for! And it may be too late already! Fuck what color the President is! Fuck what sex the President is! Damn!

I am sorry. This wasn't just aimed at you. It just finally pushed me over the edge. This isn't some goddamned episode of the Brady Bunch! Will Marsha win class President or will the new Black kid in school? Where in the end it's all about fair play and let's invite the new kid for a cook-out! Our country is dying! Our people are headed for horrible times. We are losing control of our futures. I could care less what color or gender the President is - so far none of the ones running, of any gender or any color, seem to acknowledge the reality of our country's situation. I am of the opinion, at this point, that it will make no difference, at all, who get elected in November. It just won't change the direction this country is headed, it just won't...

19. Given the choices, I have a queazy feeling that you are right
I wish that the "top three" were more in line with Kucinich, but one way or another it looks like the DLC will win this one again. Edwards is the least corporate of the three, imho, but I'm still not entirely convinced that he'll really work to release the corporate stranglehold on Washington. If he did he probably wouldn't live a very long life.

11. I thought it was about "who is a complete corporate shill and who is not".
IndependentPrimary.com has sent letters to each of the "big three" asking that they comment and act on the exclusion of those who had met the invitation criteria. I'm very interested in why they have said nothing, and done nothing. Very interested.

18. GE owns the stations who invited and then knocked Kucinich from the debate.
Complicity in the face of corporate intereference in the electoral process does not impress me whatsoever.

What does Edwards have to say about a giant corporation that owns media outlets having a say in who is heard by America? I'm highly interested in each of the candidates' (nonexistent) replies to this extremely important question.

15. Truth should be the defining reason.
Race or gender doesn't determine truth.

24. The truth is though...
There has never been a woman or racial minority in the white house.

What other truths does this fact reveal?

27. It reveals they haven't had adequate opportunity for the office.
That being said, it doesn't negate what I said which I hold to what should be the primary reason. Should I vote for them based on these issues and not my belief, it would not be fair to either.

22. Is "black" a self-ascribed label?
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 11:50 AM by wuushew
Because this whole race labeling issue is bullshit and I want it settled by the DU community before the primaries are over.

Is Tiger woods considered "black"? He like Obama is a product of a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Nobody references Woods' race in headlines about him. He is a golfer just like Obama is just a Senator.

25. Not true about Woods.
When he first emerged in the PGA, virtually ALL of the talk about him surrounded his race. When it became clear he was the best golfer in generations, not just the best black golfer, the race talk faded away. I think the Obama discussion these days is very reminiscent of Tiger's early PGA years.
