Webb has "gravitas"...
He is now speaking before the Foreign Relations Committee. (He is a member) He disagreed with Kerry and others on comparing this war in Iraq with Vietnam, because some people still have feelings about whether that war was right or wrong. As a point of clarification, he pointed out that the Harris Poll, the more liberal of the polls, in 1972 showed that 74% of the people thought it vital that South Vietnam not fall into Communist hands. Only 11% supported the opposite view. But, some of the other Senators were nodding in agreement and taking a drink of water when he was speaking. When he speaks, people listen.

1. Something Pres. Bush has never demonstrated. He just doesn't appreciate...
the gravity of the circumstances he's in. Mocking someone he was about to send to the chair was a prime example as is smiling and laughing at the wrong times, as if it's all some joke.

2. He also has Allen's old office space in Richmond
I just went to get a haircut and when I turned the corner there is a new shingle hanging from that office.

:bounce:

I poked my head in and told the young man at the desk "The Senate was fantastic on TV last night"

He said, "I will tell him"

I asked,"When did you all move in here?"

"oh about a month ago"

Me"What did you just boot Allen out of here?"

He smiled.

7. There were some earlier threads...
expressing concern about the safety of his son, his tour has just been extended.

I don't believe for a moment that Bush's inquiry about the health and well being of "your boy" to Senator Webb had anything to do with genuine concern.

8. There is only one human being on the planet that
bush cares about and that is himself.

4. Webb consistently defends his support of Vietnam back then, no matter what.
He IS wrong about that, but at least he earned his opinion, unlike the neocons who supported it and never served.

5. The contrast between Webb and bush last night was striking.
After watching bush, anyone who saw Webb would think "That's the real deal!"

Webb came off as a great man and a real leader, while bush is a simpering spoiled whiney little boy playing White House.
