1. it's a simple solution: take the money out of politics

and presto, problem solved.

Political offices should not be power positions. They should be more like serving on jury duty: something most people don't want to do. They shouldn't pay well, they shouldn't be glamorous, and most of all, they should not have power. The power should be with We, the People to decide on things, and not on pols who are so far removed from reality.
