Does One Politician's Endorsement of Another Mean Much To You?

I noticed on one of the news pages that Senator Kennedy had given his endorsement to one of the would-be-candidates. I generally don't pay any attention to endorsements but I am interested in Senator Kennedy's opinion on any person who is running for office. I am also much inclined to listen to Senators Russ Feingold and Bernie Sanders as well.

How about you? Are you much swayed by endorsements in general or in any specific ones?

making endorsements to sway voters at critical times are opportunist to me.

I'd be happier if they waited.

Papers fine, unions fine but politicians smack of plain old sticking the knife in sometimes.

6. I wouldn't say "swayed" but depending on the endorser - it does stand out.

To me, kennedy's endorsement is huge. It's like the Democratic stamp of approval. I would hold the same belief for Gore's endorsement (which I don't see him giving). Caroline's endorsement was also head turning, but I view hers differently and likely higher in the framework she delivered it - rather than just a generalized endorsement (hope that makes sense).

He's seen a lot of politics in his day and I think he would endorse a candidate that he felt could do the job and was best for the country.

It will be interesting to see what other endorsements may come.

Ted Kennedy will be AG. Ted Kennedy gets to be just about anything he wants in the Democratic Party, except President. He is endorsing because we need a change.

Actors, newspapers, politicians, and anyone else...who cares! I will make my decision on what I hear and feel about the canidate, not because someone else said they like them.

I've never changed my mind due to an endorsement, but they're for a candidate to have: it gives them some media attention, and often the endorser aids in organizational and fundraising matters (like sharing email and fundraising lists).

I view endorsements very differently than I used to. With Congress so obviously owned by huge corporations, their endorsements are very suspect. I used to think that Ted Kennedy was like his brothers, but I haven't for a while. He is very governed by Big Pharma. I was part of an effort last year to stop the banishment of vitamins and Ted Kennedy was on the wrong side of this issue. The vitamin companies have been under attack for the last few years around the world. Big Pharma wants to keep people sick to exploit them. In Europe the WHO has succeeded in shutting down nutrition and vitamin businesses in England and forcing people to get prescriptions from their doctors for even small doses of vitamin C, and charging alot for it. They want to do the same here in America. This is how low Ted had sunk.

I do think Caroline Kennedy's endorsement is a really big deal. With Oprah AND Caroline endorsing Obama, I really can't see him losing. Flame away.
