This really made me cry
I have often "choked" up when hearing the national anthem - because I have loved this country all my life - I know we were never perfect - but I always thought we tried to be. I am not a religious person and our government and our constitution has been like a religion to me.

Yesterday when Jordin Sparks sang at the Super Bowl I got chills and did more than choke up I actually CRIED - I thought to myself WHY THE HELL are you crying - and you know what I think - I think we truly have LOST this country - to the corporations, including the M$M, and the rich and powerful and I'm sad because I fear we'll never get it back at least in my life time....

Shit I need a hug....

and say what you will about American Idol - this girl CAN sing....

A hug for all those Dems who believe in the American dream of freedom and democracy...Constitution. My ancestors who fought in the wars to keep us "free" would turn over in their graves. If we have corrupted government, we have no democracy.

An author on Jon Stewart compared Bill Clinton to Teddy Roosevelt. What history has she been reading? Clinton wanted smaller government (including military) with globalization and privatization. World Order when you think about it. Government jobs cut back and sent overseas.

Sending government jobs overseas to 3rd world countries is dangerous and not secure. What we Americans can't even run our own government?

Teddy was all about Civil Service and federal government without cronyism and corruption. He'd be angry over globalization since it steals what we have for the elite few. He'd never think of opening our borders. He wanted all Americans to speak English so they are one in purpose and agenda.

I was watching a PBS special from Italy. They played the national anthem and people in the crowd had tears in their eyes. The EU and the removal of their nationhood has them very upset. Fascism seems to be back in Italy. No they weren't asked. We Americans aren't alone. Bush and his elite gang are making people all over the world cry.

3. The Star Spangled Banner always chokes me up.
Always will, I guess.

But I have to say, Sparks' rendition of it was one of the best EVER. Possibly the hardest song to sing - the octave range alone is impossible for most - and she hit every single note with style. VERY impressive.

5. I can't bring myself to sing it anymore...
I get too upset. I just bow my head when I hear it and think of what once was.

6. I personally can't stand the song. Wasn't it a drinking song?

7. Hey,
our country is great because of us, the PEOPLE. We are still here, and we will survive and overcome this. We've been through much worse as a nation... Hoover, the Civil War, the Great Depression, World War II... WE SHALL OVERCOME!!!

10. I so hope you're right
and I know we've been through worse - I just hope it gets better in my lifetime....with the past 7 years and the Dem leadership seeming not to want to fight back it sure does get discouraging - I'm trying to keep my chin up - and despite the fact that I say I'll never call another Congress Critter it doesn't work blah blah blah - I ALWAYS do keep calling or writing and voicing my opinion

9. That was nice, but ya know...
Just once, I wish one of these singers would turn the mike to the crowd and let the people sing the anthem. I've heard too many artistic versions, so many, that all meaning for the song is lost to me.
