Oh, my goodness, what happened on the greatest page?

It had become almost a worthless goal to go to the greatest page because it was filled 90% with stuff from GDP, 90% of which was vitriolic waste of my time. This morning, no entries from that currently rabid and hopefully curable rabble. I'm astounded. I feel a bit like I was in a bad horror flick and walked out to find that everyone in the world (GDP) had just disappeared. I supposed in a few days I will be said, but right now, man, happy dance!

It now also removes it from the Greatest Page.

I was going to post about this here early this morning when I found out but then I thought they may still be testing the feature and kept my mouth shut.

Some of the Grown Ups (of any age) around here got sick and tired of seeing the place we choose to post our opinions have its home page used for NEENER NEENER NEENER from the cheerleaders of GD-P supporting EITHER candidate.

So another poster whose name escapes me suggested we get rid of the "REC" function in GD-P so that the Home Page Greatest Section wouldn't be dominated with HE SAID SHE SAID NO HE DID NO YOU STINK from GD-P, reminiscent of all of our recess days in elementary school, I made a federal case out of it...

I've been through the primaries here before but this was really getting out of hand and I kept accidently looking at a topic from the greatest page that was GDP and getting disgusted. When I looked the other day 90% of the Greatest Page was GDP and that's when I considered my hiatus. But I like DU for all of the other stuff, but I have a special affinity for the Greatest Page so having it sullied with that you so aptly called NEENER NEENER NEENER was making it look like I needed to find a new way to experience DU or go find a life.

24. I want to thank all the people who explained what happened and

those who were willing to rec it to the Greatest Page when I pimped it. I don't pimp my own threads but if it really was true, I wanted the page affected to know the wonderful news.

I hope someone will let me know who our candidate is when the time comes, but otherwise, I'm done with GDP, cesspool of bizarre unDUlike hatred and childishness. Won't venture in again. Yay!!!

I have long used that Greatest Page as my filter for what is most important to read. Really, I should go to LBN for that, but I never got the habit and I trust the LBN people to get it to the greatest page if it's important. It's just lately, no other forum, including LBM could compete with the pestilence coming out of that GDP monster.

29. my opinion of du changed dramatically in the past few months...

i can honestly say that du saved my sanity during the past 4 years...and then in the past few months became a place i didnt recognize and certainly did not belong...sure, i came everyday and tried to wade thru the garbage..but my sense of community eroded..and i left more quickly since i could rarely find substance...i rarely posted and would just wonder where these people came from...content and info took a back seat to opinions of posters who did not support a progressive candidate or anything i had learned on du in the previous 4 years...we'll see what happens...i think a lot of people like me are disappointed and i just cant swallow the excuse that it was worse during the last election...
