Why dont the right like the environment ?
Serious question.

Why don't the right like the environment?

The comments on the free republic are downright cruel, every right wing journo in the MSM, always rips into people who believe in Global Warming.

My question is why????????

I thought all those hunting and fishing guys, would want a better environment.

But they don't seem to care about it all.

Why is that????

1. Because it will cost corporations a FORTUNE to install scrubbers and make their businesses clean
That will affect stock distributions.

It's all about the short term money. Fuck the next generations, that's what they say....

3. the rich can afford the space, the islands
The poor huddle in dense cities, polluted and crapped on, waiting to die at the
whim of their feudal lord (to be defined by the next administration).

8. A local welcomes Global Warming as part of God's plan
in the last days. He thinks environmentalists are working against God's will. Letter to the editor.

6. Simple - they see it as something which restricts their personal freedoms
Not sure how much more simple I can state it - but that is how they see it.

If it's a choice between the world's oldest giant redwood and getting paid to cut it down - well, you know.

9. The only reason I can come up with is that the corporations have
Edited on Sun Feb-25-07 11:51 PM by Democrat 4 Ever
convinced the sheeple that it will cost them money and/or jobs. The are expertly good at repeating a lie long enough that it becomes accepted as truth among their group. The Republics have sold that BS for 40 years so they won't cut into the bottom line for the CEOs' golden parachutes. It is so much easier to rape the environment than do the right thing. So much more fun to belch toxic fumes into the air instead of spending the money it takes to fix anything. Those sheeple are counting on being raptured before they need to worry about anything as silly as the earth. Selfish, narrow-minded and delusional are the best things that can be said about them.

Nothing else makes sense. You gotta hand it to the reichwings they have got 30% of Americans who will continue to vote against their own best interest damn near every election cycle for what? To never have a beer with a coked out frat boy with Daddy issues and a mean streak?

Think John Dean is on to something - these people don't want to think or use logic or reason - just tell them what to think they are are happy.

10. They just dont believe in Global Climate Change man
Its as simple as that. I had a guy at work try to tell me that the earth was more than three or four degrees warmer a thousand years ago and thats why the Vikings could sail to Greenland and Canada and live there. I dont know how to refute that or counter with anything other than an eye-roll and a sigh so I just walked away. I dont know if I could make him see plain good sense so I'll just avoid that subject with him.

11. I hope Freepers read this...
you love your fishing and your hunting,

if there are no fish to fish because the rivers and streams have been polluted by those big corporations that are not being regulated

and there are no birds because the air they fly in is polluted..

and there are no deer, elk or moose to hunt because the lands that they grazed on and roamed have been destroyed by big corporations building concrete cities and creating more pollution....Just exactly who are you going to blame?

Look in the mirror dumbasses they are playing you like a fiddle!! :nopity:

Rant off...

13. I disagree. They LOVE the environment
They see it as a large breast that expresses money. And they resist any attempt to wean them from that money.

15. My experience has been that they don't dislike the environment...
they just don't overwhelmingly believe that it is imperiled. Many of the more conservative individuals I talk to think the global warming issue, for example, is an entirely made up, baseless argument that is bandied about by overly repressive liberals.

"Where's the proof? The real proof. The climate always goes through changes." This is the most common retort that I have heard. It is usually followed by claims that tax-n-spend libruls just want to clamp down on the free market until corporations are regulated out of existence.

17. careful about the "Because they won't make money if we clean up" meme
That's what they want you to think.

Actually, those that clean up quickest, will clean up, literally.
AND they will create millions of the new jobs of the future.

Don't let anybody sell you on the idea that clinging to
19th century technologies serves anything but
corporate arrogance and inertia - If standing pat was
profitable, GM would be soaring, not tottering.

DON"T DO THE RIGHT'S WORK FOR THEM - DO NOT
REPEAT THEIR FRAMING.

19. How much more proof do they need?
There is less of everything and we need to stop expanding and growing our economy for the sake of the future. There has been at the very least a half degree F rise in temperature this past century and it WILL accelerate to the point of no return THIS century. Within some of our lifetimes. I have no patience for these unbelievers.

They love to cut down and sell the trees. They love how easy it is to dump toxic waste in our rivers and lands. They love that gold and oil and uranium and coal sprout from the womb of the earth. For free. For their profit.
