MSNBC swings and misses
According to crooksandliars.com david 'the blogs are soooooo mean' gregory is getting carlson's timeslot.

I think I'd almost prefer to have Carlson.
At least he's an open shill.

Gregory is a 'Do anything to get access to power' shill.

8. you'd think if they have been paying attention to recent elections
and primary turnouts, they would. If the media truly reflected what the public wants anyway.

3. David Gregory is like a more serious version of Craig Kilborn (first host of The Daily Show)
Only Kilborn was supposed to be mean and irreverant. Gregory ... dunno. I think he'll be horribly lame.

7. How Far They Fall
A couple years ago, when Gregory was giving Snotty a tough time, he was the darling of DU...people here clammored for him to get his own show. Then he went dancing with MC Rove...

9. I saw him on ABC TV (Asia-Pacific) and the interviewer asked him about that night
He said something along the line of... people have become too polarized and that everyone was having a good time and people needed to relax.

The interviewer asked him "Would you have been that giddy if it had been Rudolf Hess dancing on stage in 1933?"

10. Beltway Mindset
I honestly don't think the media realizes the decisions they report on really do affect people. They see it more like a social game. It's go-along/get-along...and always a deference to power...especially when it's put on display.

The "journalists" inside the beltway...the village...filter what they see, say or write on their own best interests. They'll always protect a source as they see that as their ace in the hole...the scoop, the "get"...not just competing with other networks, but many times within their own. They hold those sources like gold...their ticket to the bylines and face-time...and gets them in the drinkie-drinkie parties. It's almost like Stockholm Syndrome.

The other day, I saw an interview with a Time reporter (who used to run a sleezy blog) who all but swooned about being invited to McCain's pig roast...and then said that a reporter who dared to confront Gramps on another flip-flop and was yelled at..."was new" and hadn't gotten "with the program".

Yep...the best corporate media money can buy.

Are you going to leave us hanging with Gregory's response to that? (though I'll assume that Gregory didn't deign to respond)

16. He rolled his eyes and gave the interviewer the look of "I can't believe you asked that."
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 06:11 PM by rpannier
Asia-Pacific has some top-notch people who do interviews.

The interviewer said, "I see." after the rolled eyes.

My favorite comment when one of their better reporters does interviews is "Now, you're off tracking." (It sounds cool with the Aussie accent)
Off-tracking means you're not answering the question. You've moved off track.

edited to put in off-tracking

20. God, wouldn't that be refreshing in the States.
I "love" how our "journalists" just move on to the next question no matter how unrelated to the original question an answer is.

25. Yeah, I don't get why our reporters go begging.
You would think that the politicians would be the one's in need of positive media coverage, and the news shows/channels would bash them until they appeared. (Or maybe it's the fact that there's so much money thrown at our elections, that they figure their TV ads can override news media coverage.)

We're such patsies. (Which does fit into the profile of your typical bully.)

17. There was none
He rolled his eyes gave the interviewer a look

The guy doing the interview said, "I see."

And that was pretty much it.

The "I see." I think means you don't want to answer because you know I'm right.

19. I think he's redeemable...

When his face was right in it during the floods of Katrina, there was the spark of a sentient being.

Let's see what happens as he weans himself from the cocktail circuit.. (or if he's smart enough to)
