Spitzer: Clever sting?
What if Spitzer was setting up the FBI and illegal GOP wiretapping operations...

They got the info on his activities in a unknown manner. Can we see how? Was it legal? Was it all a setup to expose a larger effort of domestic opposition spying?

That would REALLY be sweet but....I know....more than likely a simple case of the little head thinking for the big head.

2. It will be interesting if the case
goes to trial and the prosecutor says we can't tell you how we found out you were doing something illegal. State secrets and all.

Until I heard today on WAMC, the Albany NPR affiliate, that the investigation was conducted with "court ordered wiretaps." They still could be illegal, but who knows.

Another thing, is that this story was leaked. It seems that some factions of Spitzer's enemies were in on this. After all, it was the banks, who turned him in, because they suspected bribery.

Yet another thing is, what will Bushco, Inc. try to slip under the wire, while this thing gets the headlines?

AFAIC, if Spitzer is forced to resign, Bushco, Inc. should be forced to resign, ALL OF THEM.
SEX, even if it is illegal, DOES NOT TRUMP TREASON!!!!!

Kevin Shelley, in Calif, after he decertified Diebold touchscreens, sued their asses for lying and demanded to see their source code, just prior to the 2004 election. Turns out every charge against him was bogus. But they successfully drove him from office. I still don't know who was behind that campaign. I suspect Karl Rove.

I know this sort of thing has happened elsewhere. It's a Karl Rove signature. But it was never brought home to me so clearly--I guess since I live in Calif, and was already concerned about the Bush Cartel's ability to steal elections--what immense power these fascists have to orchestrate ANYONE's demise. And we know now, in addition, that they are spying on us all. Spying gives you more power than merely knowing what your opponents are going to say or do, politically (or what they may have on YOU). It gives you the power to thoroughly vet them, psychologically and every other say--to know all their weaknesses, to know where and how to put pressure, to know how to armtwist and kneecap in a variety of situations, to know how to instill fear, and to know how to set up black ops to "get" somebody, if necessary. And they also have this power (spying, blackmail, set ups, bribery) over journalists and editors (added to the existing tendency of journalists to obey their war profiteering, monopolistic owners and CEOs), AND over Democratic office holders (who can be made to screw other Democrats--as happened with Shelley).

Since the Shelley event, I have been 100% skeptical of ANY accusations/prosecutions of ANY Democrat, and, oh, 50% skeptical of such attacks on Republicans as well. (The latter could be cosmetic, that is, prosecutions of lesser players to make it look like we still have a justice system--or the target went "off the reservation," in some way.) We need to understand that we have had REALLY, REALLY BAD people in full fascist control of our country for eight years. We cannot trust anything they say or do. We can't trust their lapdog press. We can't trust any FBI or Justice Dept. activity, or any of the bullshit from the "Homeland" Security office. It's proven to be a pretty good rule of thumb that, whatever the Bushites say, the OPPOSITE is true (and its corollary that, whatever they accuse others of, THEY are doing, only much worse). And this could well be true of EVERY agency in the federal government, down to the agent level, since the Bushites have had plenty of time for purges of the good guys and promotion of the bad.

Look at the Seigelman case! They've got a Democratic governor IN JAIL--and we are just now finding out that the evidence was cooked.

As for Spitzer: The only people who give a goddamn about sexual 'misconduct' among consenting adults are the corporate 'news' monopolies--and you don't think the 5 rightwing billionaire CEOs who run them don't use prostitutes!? They're probably diddling little boys from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia! These people are SICK. The Bushites and their global corporate predator puppetmasters are SICK men--sick with mind-boggling greed, sick with torture, sick with mass murder. They have destroyed our country--and several others--and we're supposed to CARE that somebody hired prostitutes?!

I do. not. CARE. --if Elliot Spitzer was weak, and hired prostitutes, IF he did. It is immaterial to me. IF he did it, I'm sorry that he left himself wide open to these fuckheads, to end his career. And that is the ONLY concern I have. What happens between consenting adults--even if money changes hands--is completely and totally irrelevant to my life--and to most Americans' lives--which are being destroyed by the Bush Junta, in every way imaginable, from the shredding of our Constitution, to stealing $12 billion a week of our tax money, to kill Iraqis for their oil.

But back to my opening premise of 100% distrust of such charges against a Democrat. That's where we must start. With 100% skepticism. The Bush Junta has control of our bank accounts, our credit card records, our phone records, our mail, our email, our internet browsing habits, our purchases, our rental car agreements, our hotel visits, and everything thing else about us, and can set any one of us up at any time, with any charges they like, and can furthermore whisk us off in the night to indefinite detention. And anyone with POWER--a Democratic governor, for instance--with the slightest weakness, or even without any weakness--say, one of the best public servants our nation has ever seen (Kevin Shelley)--can be GOTTEN.

Beware, beware. Don't play their games. Ask yourself, why should anybody care about this minor infraction (of a law that shouldn't even be a law -- prostitution should be legalized), compared to the crimes of the Bush Junta and its lying, disinformationist, lapdog press? And if you care about it because the lapdog press cares about it, then ask yourself: how long are we going to be the victims of this mind-bending loop?--that we have to care about what THEY say we have to care about, while they black-hole all of the real and vital concerns of the American people, and deny the left side of the political spectrum any air time--as if the poor, the workers, the lower middle class and small business did not exist.
