Like David Letterman said last night, sounds like he was trying to jump start the economy.

18. I've read it was eight or so times over the course of "more than a year,"
which I'm interpreting as more than twelve months but fewer than eighteen months.

But a politician and a sex scandal? Old news.

4. A state attorney general or governor doesn't command a salary that can
support that kind of activity. Where did the rest of the money come from, Spitzer?

23. Regardless of his wealth, there will still be an investigation into the sources of the funds.
In his half-assed way in which he tried to cover his tracks, by engaging in money-laundering, he may have built up enough confusion that even he can not prove the sources.

5. Spitzer's guilty as hell....HOWEVER...the other question of the day...
is:

"Was the bank's "reporting of suspicious cash transactions" just a cover for a Domestic Spying witch hunt?"

And this report will add fuel to THAT fire.

33. $80K in under-the-table moves to the Caymans from a gov? Gee, I wonder.
People have their tinfoil on waaaaay too tight around here.

Try the same thing as Spitzer (hiding $80K) and you'll get investigated too. As you would have since the 1980's.

20. After you pay your taxes on about $130,000.00, you have about $85,000.00 left. Personal
entertainment is a nondeductible event, so it has to be paid with after tax dollars. Are there other sources of funds, through money-laundering, that the federal government is reviewing?

10. That's a hell of a lot of money for a public servant
I'm sure Spitzer did all right for himself but he was a prosecutor in New York City; he was not a partner in a big firm. This had to be a serious percentage of his income.

1. Where did it come from?
2. How did his wife not notice that much missing?

And yeah, $80K in "small" wire transfers is going to set off any alarm bells that exist in the banking system.

"WRONG; however, it was his own money. For what THAT'S worth.

This whole thing really sits wrong with me. This GOVENOR must be beyond stupid to think this would slip under the radar.

His wife and children most likely could have spent the money much more wisely. Wasn't it Family money he spent? No? Well then, he purchased pussy at $4K an hour - and everything's just fine.

What a dumbass. I feel very sorry for his wife and children.

27. I am NOT disagreeing!
What I am saying, before some do the "tax dollar boogie" it was HIS (family) money. Nothing more! Of course his wife/children/HE could have spent it more wisely! FFS! Sometimes a cigar is just a freakin' cigar! As in my post!

my mortgage? Food..that would be nice since no real grocery shopping has happened in my part of the world for awhile. Furnace? Absolutely! Mine was ruined by a flood about 10 days ago. Farmers Insurance won't cover it.

Spitzer blew it...the $ and his life...what an ass.

engaged in money-laundering at the spending stage. You'll have to prove every dollar of income, and every dollar of expenditures. Especially since the IRS is involved. There may be more dirty little secrets to be revealed.

If you'll lie about sex, you'll certainly lie about money.
