"DLC: New Dem of the Week: Eliot Spitzer"
Read this article praising Spitzer from January of this year: http://www.dlc.org/ndol_ci.cfm?kaid=104&subid=116&contentid=254549

So much for the DLC and their attempts to appeal to the right-wingers. These DINOs end up exactly like the Republicans.

2. 'Scuse me... but do you really think
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 06:21 PM by Gman
that Democrats that are not members of the DLC are as pure as the driven snow? That they're virginal and untouched by anyone other than their true-till-death-do-us-part spouse? That they never have anything other than with their clothes on, man on top sex, when they do have to break down and have sex rather than attending to the people's business?

You do? You're new, aren't you?

Fact is, they just haven't been caught... yet.

4. Irrelevant, because they are not trying to appeal to right-wing voters.
DINOs/DLCers, on the other hand, go out of their way to secure the right-wing vote, while demonizing progressives within the Democratic Party.

7. Appealing to right wing voters makes you oversexed and
compelled to frequent prostitutes???

No, irrelevant because the premise of the assertion about the DLC is unfounded and irrelevant.

9. By appealing to right-wing voters, they pretend to be "family men"
And then they end up looking like hypocrites, just like Republicans who appeal to that same segment of voters.

10. With a very few exceptions, what politician does NOT try to appeal
to "family values"?? That's all part of the game, the charade they all play. Be clear about one thing. Philandering is NOT confined to conservatives by any means. If someone has a libido, they have power, and there's a smiling pretty young thing there that's had one too many and is a bit wounded, they'll have the pretty thing in their hotel room before you can sneeze. To think otherwise is, I'm sorry, naive.

Go attend a few conventions and watch what happens.

5. DLC is just a label. Did you know Spitzer supports equal rights for GLBT folks?
Yes, the "rethug lite" supports gay marriage. Some progressive saints don't. The obsession with the DLC label on the netroots makes no sense. Look at their policies, not stupid labels.

6. It amazes how many qualifications one needs to be a "Democrat"
in the eyes of these Obama-bot jokers. If we listened to them, we'd become the minority party pretty damn soon.

8. The problem with the DLC isn't their stance on social issues.
They're fine on that stuff because it doesn't really affect their true interest, preserving corporate power and influence.

11. Eliot "Ness" Spitzer is a corporate crony because he has the DLC label?
Wall Street is rejoicing at his downfall. Contrast that to their support of candidates like Obama who do not formally associate with the DLC.

12. I never said he was a corporate crony
I don't know how strong Spitzer's connection to the DLC is. Until just recently I had no idea he was even affiliated with them at all.

But the DLC is unquestionably the pro-corporate wing of the Democratic party. I was only responding to your defense of them by pointing out how socially liberal they are.

Being liberal on social issues is great, but it's only half the equation.

13. you are way off
Spitzer is one of the good guys and you are an ignoramus.

"As attorney general, Spitzer took cases relating to corporate white collar crime, securities fraud, internet fraud and environmental protection. He most notably pursued cases against companies involved in computer chip price fixing, investment bank stock price inflation, and the 2003 mutual fund scandal. He also sued Richard Grasso, the then-chairman of the New York Stock Exchange, who he claimed had violated his position after receiving an upwards of $140 million as a deferred compensation pay package."
