Bob Harris: (Hillary) Unelectable, and rightly so
Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 04:38 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
"But here's what sucks worse: the Iraq war is one of the deadliest, stupidest, and most criminal foreign policy mistakes of our lifetimes. (Just making that list is a major accomplishment, btw, considering Guatemala, East Timor, Cambodia, etc.) And Hillary, despite her recent weaseling -- sorry, triangulation is the term of art -- vigorously supported Bush's Iraq adventure from the start.

In the wake of 9-11, it wasn't just George W. Bush telling the world "every nation has to be either with us or against us." It was Hillary, as you can hear for yourself.

In October 2002, during the debate about giving Bush authorization to invade Iraq, it wasn't just Dick Cheney telling the world in that Saddam Hussein had links to Al-Qaeda. It was Hillary, from the floor of Congress.

And in February 2005, it wasn't just John McCain claiming that democracy was taking root in Iraq, and that the insurgency was in its last throes. It was Hillary, standing right at John McCain's side.

Yeah. So President Hillary would be soooooo much better about Iraq. Clap louder, everybody. Make it come true."

1. "Let's chat..." says a cheerful Sen. Clinton on her website.
Too late.

4. I don't understand why a woman who knows
half the country would never vote for her...and half of her own party thinks she's a corporate hawk, would continue to run.

5. She is being advised by DLC dems, and has no clue how out
of touch she, and they, are.

There's a lot to like about Ms Clinton, but not enough to run for the presidency on.

11. If you think most folks running for Prez don't have "ruthless, unbridled, self-centered...
relentless ambition," think again.

Those that win have all that in spades. You want a loser, then vote for someone who does not have these traits.

16. Leaders rise up to the challenge. Losers let the naysayers dictate their moves.
That's why.

8. I've said this before: I have a love/hate relationship with Hillary.
Sometimes I love her because of the things she does.

Sometimes I hate her because of the things she does.

I will absolutely vote for her if she's the Dem candidate, but I'm not always sure of where she's coming from. It's that unexpected occurrence that worries me.

I will say, she has a great website, some great ideas, and she is coming across as Presidential. But will that be enough?

12. Me too. She comes in, at best, as my 3rd choice, but not because she's not electable.
I was in political polling for eight years.

Folks that say she's unelectable must have prior knowledge of who the Republicans will run, and no appreciation for the voting patterns of people who vote for her. She gets more votes than poll numbers. Kind of the opposite of polling/voting patterns for black candidates.

14. If we compromise too much in taking back the White House
we won't force the corruption and scandals out of our government. Instead, we'll be the ones creating the scandals.

22. We shall see; saying she's unelectable does NOT make it so
I'm trying to concentrate on the dead-beat, do-nothing repubs; not bad mouthing my own party.....

25. The ball is in our court now...If we fund this escalation
....the blood is on our hands.

If we fund the surge, we in fact are doing nothing.

Democrats should say...We will only fund the safe return of our soldiers.
