To the editor:

In recent days, the media has been discussing statements made by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Sen. Barack Obama’s former pastor. Rev. Wright has claimed that God condemns America for its continued violence, intolerance and bigotry. These are strong words indeed.

However, I would much rather hear the sermons of Rev. Wright than those of politically conservative ministers such as Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, James Dobson, and even Kansas’ own Fred Phelps, each of which have claimed that God condemns America for not being hateful and bigoted enough.

12. The constant sniping on the Greatest page got to me.

I am so busy that I mostly just read the home page and the Greatest page, but the stuff on the Greatest page was so negative that I began to feel that paid (Republican?) operatives must be deliberately trying to destroy our party and cost us the GE. Besides the nastiness of threads and posts, there was also the way the worst threads were being deliebrately voted up and pinned to the Greatest page. Since that's the page I read, it stopped seeming worth my while to read it. I had to take a break.

But when I saw this LTTE in the paper today, I just had to share it.

I also want to share a terrific article by Trudy Rubin, one of the few journalists who know what they are talking about where Iraq is concerned. In fact, I think I will go and post about today's Rubin article right now.

16. I wouldn't step into any of these so called "Reverends'" churches.

I'm really tired of all the wacko interpretations of what God is going to do. I find it hard to believe that God deals out punishment on a "group" basis. There are plenty of churches out there that still preach love one another and the other good stuff.

How about watching this brief clip from Rev. Wright on the truth about women in the Bible. He sounds to me like a man who respects women, if you have a video clip or a quotation from a legitimate source then I would be interested in seeing it.
