Future Son-In-Law being sent back to Afghanistan after 4 days
at home. I can't believe this! What an expense to the American taxpayer too to have to send back all of this stuff that was sent back home. This crap has got to end. After a year there and he just arrived home on Saturday night. For sure this Military doesn't have a clue what it is doing!

4. This is beyond my comprehension.
I am all too familiar with repeated combat deployment.

Is he a combat or a support troop?

Normal troops are not psychologically equipped to handle that sort of turnaround.

You should contact someone in the National media with this and supply his Unit number.

13. I believe combat. He is up in rank. Received a Bronze Star
while in Afghanistan recently. He is based out of Fort Drum, in Watertown, NY. 10th Mountain Division.

7. When does he redeploy?
Surely his down time is not just 4 days?! course, nothing would surprise me at this point.

I feel like we're living in some Monty Python movie gone bad.

8. Soon, won't be but a matter of days.
Apparently no down time. Some of this group is enroute home and are being turned around to go back.

12. Good Lord, this is ridiculous.
How the heck can he get anything in order, His Job, his future life, the wedding, Family...
I am so sorry for what he and you and the rest of the family must be going thru. I can not imagine what this must be like for you.
Contact Keith, like the above poster suggested, or maybe the sandbox on The Doonesbury site. http://gocomics.typepad.com/the_sandbox/

Good Luck and God Bless.

9. Is this because of Iran? For whatever the reason, I feel sorrow
for your family. All the plans. All the rest that is needed. One interrupted life causing many interrupted lives. And this isn't WW II. I wish all of you strength.

16. I do not know. Only that he is headed back to Afghanistan .
I don't have a clue what it is for except must have something to do with Bush's surge. They just closed on a new home yesterday and moved in today. My daughter did all the work for this because she had power of attorney. This morning they were all excited and happy and this afternoon they find out this.

18. Unbelievable. Bush is destroying our military with extended rotations like this
After this kind of treatment, it's a pretty safe bet soldiers are gonna bail when they get an opportunity. And forget about new enlistments, who would sign up for this kind of abuse???

19. Was it just a visit?
A woman at work has a son that just got back from Iraq, and today she said that he won't have to go back until at least one year. Was it just a visit during a tour?

22. Whoa!!
Isn't there a required time of leave between tours of duty?

Hugs to you. My brother returned home from his second tour in December. He's supposed to be out of the military for good in March, but guess what? He'll be three months shy of pension eligibility, so he has to decide whether or not to re-enlist. I have this horrible feeling that the military is going to make that choice for him -- with a third deployment.
