Both candidates wrong on Wright
The short answer to the bullshit surrounding Rev.Wrights' comments is obvious to me."Although I may not agree with what he said,as an American citizen, I would fight to defend his right to say it."End of story.

1. I really don't see anything wrong with what Wright said.
If they cherry-picked 30 years of sermons and this was the best they could do, I really don't see an issue.

6. It's Media Story-Creation at its worst
Even though I would defend the right of a KKK member to speak freely, I wouldn't vote for a Presidential canidate who was friends with him. But what Wright said was not KKKesque, in fact it may have been right. Roland Martin posted the entire post-9-11 sermon. It's not that offensive at all. The offending passage was actually a QUOTE OF A QUOTE, the rest was largely focused on a Psalm, it was certainly not pro-terrorism or whatever else the right (and Hillary) are trying to spin out of it.

2. That doesn't work
I don't know if anybody is arguing that he shouldn't be allowed to preach - actually some people probably are. But the larger argument seems to be "What Wright said was wrong (because it makes White Americans uncomfortable) and Obama has been associating with him for a long time. How do we know that Barack doesn't share the same views as Wright?" This is a bullshit argument, but it's not one that answered simply by asserting Wrights right to freedom of speech.

Consider if it were reversed and it were revealed that McCain was a long time associate of someone we would find objectionable - would that argument placate you?

4. Read the first part of the sentence
"Although I don't agree..."would be all I need to hear.I am growing weary of the inane blather that permeates every facet of American discourse.Juvenile, hateful, immature gossip. My opinion of anyone that wants to play these childish games is greatly diminished.

5. Actually that part bugs me as well.
Because it is basically what the right wing has been calling on Obama to do - repudiate Wright and move on. Of course short of publicly condemning him in the harshest possible terms I'm not Obama can really get away from Wright - or, to put it another way, I don't think Conservatives will let him.

3. If this was Hillary's pastor, would the same rules apply?
