Does anyone know about the NO CALL LIST?
Lately, I've been getting more and more recorded sales calls, even though I'm supposed to be on the no call list. Is there some exception for recorded calls?

A big offender is "DISH, the satellite TV company." They have been calling several times a week, even though I have spoken with their reps at least a half a dozen times in the last month and instructed them to take me off their calling list.

Is there a place for me to report this? Is the "no call list" still in effect? Does it apply to recorded sales pitches?

Thanks!

just punch in your phone number. It's free. national and it works.

You'll still get charity and political calls.

Edit to add, my calls picked up lately too and I realized my time limit was up and had to re-register my phone number. Within a week the calls stopped.

2. I already did that a long time ago. And it was working.
But now I'm getting the calls again, and wonder what to do.

4. Hi Rosemary -- your edit may have explained things.
I didn't realize there was a time limit. Geez.

Thanks!

7. You have to re-register every 5 years.
I missed it the first time too.

15. The charity and political calls just kill me.
I'd love to give to all of them, but unfortunately I can't afford to give to any of them right now. I get at least one a day (usually two) and it just tears me up that I have to keep saying "I'm sorry, but I can't help". It's much easier to just hang up on a telemarketer who's trying to sell me insurance.

3. The "no call" list is still in effect. Exceptions are made for charities and current customers
..."current customer" exception is a PIA, as I sometimes get calls from my banks or credit card accounts offering "additional services" - just gotta tell 'em not to call with similar offers.

If you continue to receive calls after specific instructions to the contrary, you should document any further calls received. This type of documentation has been used to recover damages (provided under the no-call-list legislation) from the offending company.

6. Yep it is..and you should take the time to file
charges. Everytime they call it is a 500 dollar fine.

8. Do you use DISH satellite TV services?
If you do, they are allowed to call you. I get tons of calls from my credit card company to see if I will enroll in their credit protection service, despite my repeated "NO!!!"

If you aren't using DISH, mess with the telemarketers. Ask them to repeat the same thing over and over (without actually paying attention yourself) or say, "Hold on a minute," then put the phone down and walk away. It's on their dime, so make the call as costly as possible. If you are using DISH, get an answering machine and screen your calls.

13. No, we do not and never will use DISH.
I guarantee it.

I hadn't thought about "messing" with them. That's an idea.

9. I remember reading something a short time ago, and I believe that Dish Network
has had a lot of complaints against them for these violations. They may have also been fined, but I really don't remember the details.

Next time they call, try this:

Or at least see how far they let you go with it!

10. They called me too and I told them I was on the no call list
and not to call me again if they don't want me to report them. They haven't since then and if they do call again in the future I will report them.

11. Kick and Thank You!!
I get regular robocalls and they drive me bats. No, I do not want a new mortgage, a stock tip pretending to be from Sheila or satellite cable.

16. The top link is good.
I used it about 6 months ago and have had very few calls since - mostly from people with Indian accents.
