BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Another deadly month for U.S. troops in Iraq has drawn to a close.

The U.S. military said 79 service members were killed in Iraq in February. The last was a Marine killed in combat Wednesday in western Iraq's dangerous Anbar province.

According to an Associated Press count, at least 3,163 members of the U.S. military have died in Iraq since the war began in March 2003. More than 2,500 of the deaths were the result of hostile action.
