Ricky SANTIMONIOUS wants BACK (as Philly Mag columnist)

I'm having tech problems, can't get direct links to work for me (maybe will for others). I like the publisher's comment about Dan RATHER being more of a match for them.

Breaking: Santorum to Pen Inky Column?

Republican former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum is in talks to become the Philadelphia Inquirer‘s newest op-ed columnist. Reached late Wednesday night, Santorum told us, “We’re sort of back and forth, haven’t decided anything, but we’re talking, yes.”

About two weeks ago, Santorum discussed “life after the Senate” with Brian Tierney, the Inky‘s CEO and publisher, at the paper’s headquarters on 400 North Broad. “I stopped in for a meeting with Brian Tierney,” Santorum said. “He Continued

Philadelphia Magazine
Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum says his talks with the Inquirer are "informal" and the column "may or may not happen." Publisher Brian Tierney confirms "low-level discussions" with Santorum, but puts the chances of the politico's column ever appearing at "one out of 1,000. We'd probably be more likely to have Dan Rather write a column for us. Seriously. And I'm not being facetious."

3. Haha, we in Philly will trash this crap
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 11:01 AM by upenn264
No one is buying the Inquirer and sales have fell like the Stock market on did on Tuesday. With Santorum, whatever shred is left wall fall into the hole. Realize this: 75% of Philadelphians are REGISTERED democracts, not including independents. During our mayor race held this year, even though there was much corruption, the mayor is decided for sure after the primary - not even the actual race. We have not elected a Repuke since Harry Truman was President. THis Santorum b*llSh*t ain't gonna last more than a day.

5. Welcome to DU!
I think Brian Tierney will keep the Inky going as long as possible. Ricky is just another nail in the coffin but as long as Brian continues to pour money down the rathole that is now the Inquirer.

And the only candidate worth voting for so far in the mayorl race is Michael Nutter.

10. Welcome to DU
The Inky has become a RW rag and it used to be such a good paper. I'm sure Sick Rantorum will be featured regularly and right at home with Krauthammer et al. :hi:

in Philly. Every Sunday morning he's on the local news channel's "issues & answers" panel show mouthing off conservative nonsense. He reminds me of Hannity.

9. I know
And a friend of mine has worked for him.

This friend said that the best way to take Brian anywhere was in the trunk of a car, with an oily rag stuffed in his mouth.

11. I was really disappointed Little Ricky Did Not Run For the Repub Nomination....
.... his idiotic statements would have provided lots of interests and would have focused the attention of the voting public on what is wrong with the Republican Party.

You always hate to lose a 'voice of the Republican Party' like Little Ricky....
they make running a candidate against them much easier.

12. With NO even vaguely liberal columnists, the Inqy has added two right-wing
psychos to their staff in the past month. Now they are going to add Sicko.

I am so glad I cancelled my decades-long subscription when Toll & tierney and the rest bought the paper. It is not even useful as birdcage liner.

And our recycling pile has shrunk considerably.

13. "Rick Santorum is in talks"
I imagine that the talks are going something like this:

RS: PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

Inq.: no.

RS: PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

Inq.: no.

RS: PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

Inq.: no. Security?
