understand, then a tip of the hat to him. A person in a leadership role needs to understand the truth around issues such as gays in the military or in highly sensitive positions.

One thing people don't seem to understand is, take away the stigma of homosexuality and the security threat disappears. An openly gay person is not going to be easily blackmailed as a person with something to hide.

first of all, perhaps the title is a bit leading and offensive. I don't think someone's orientation should matter, although yes it sucks that he felt he would not get the job BECAUSE our culture has a negative attitude toward gay people, which you so eloquently illustrate in your thread. Did that make sense? Or would you prefer that people wear little pink triangles or yellow stars so we can tell who belongs to which group?

Maybe your intentions are NOT to stir up shit by posting a laughably contentious thread that is not only irrelevant, but seems to be a sideways attack on (~yawn!!!~) Clinton from a decade ago. Perhaps we're all just reading into it. If so, I would think that you could make some effort to explain what you meant instead of being "edgy" or however you see yourself.
