Interesting little observation re: jury in Libby trial

Beer Thirty

From Jane:

Pach and I just got back from the courtroom. The jury is having a high old time together. They were to a one grinning from ear to ear, giggling, having the time of their lives. Pach noted that none of them looked at Libby, and they did not seem like a group of people who were in disharmony — there wasn't one who was hanging back, nobody was pissed at somebody who was intractable. They seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the process.

As Pach and I were heading to the elevators, I told him that I suspected that the thing that was happening to the jury is what happened to people on the blogs who got into this story — they got addicted to it. They're busy sorting through the details, peeling back layers of the onion, fascinated by the process of mutual discovery as they explore the characters and events that led up to the trial. Pach said in his shrinky expert opinion that this made a lot of sense.

2. Yeah, you're not the only one.
I'm taking things very well, personally, because I'm intellectually, not emotionally invested in the outcome, and, not that the jury's supposed to take into account all the much-suffering people out there but, I'm sure more than a few people will read this jury observation and groan a bit :)

3. None of them looked at Scooter.
That "usually" means a conviction. Often, with an acquittal they'll look at the defendant.

4. I also found that an interesting
observation when I read it, I don't know what to make of it. It sounds like a logical explanation. They are thinking along the same lines, and are comfortable with it. One thing we know by this observation, there will be no hung jury, they will return verdicts. What those verdicts will be?

5. Well...maybe they were just having a "Relief Break" from the heavy discussions
and deliberations. :eyes:
