WHO is advising her?

Until Jefferson is through with the investigation process and they determine whether he committed a crime, he should NOT have any "public" exposure that's avoidable.

The republicans are very very good at this character assassination stuff, and if jefferson's guilt-free, it's a damn shame they are going after him, but facts are facts..

Nancy cannot appoint him to ANY committee and expect the press to let it lie..

Imagine if Foley had stayed, and then been appointed to a committee.. We would have howled like crazy.. and remember, he has YET to be anything but "investigated and re-habbed"..No "guilt" was ever determined..

We cannot have it both ways..

I KNOW Jefferson's people re-elected him, but as long as he's under investigation, he's radioactive as far as the republicans go..and THEY have media access and a BIG echo-chamber.

This stuff taints everything good that Pelosi's trying to do, because we know how the media will only ask about this, to put her on the spot.

And now that she's done it, she cannot even UNdo it without appearing to have capitulated to the "republican good-sense of propriety" :puke:

He was re-elected AFTER the money was found in the freezer. And I would assume that his constituents
have something serious to say about feeling safe and secure. Please let's not take up the Right Wing Spin Machine's routine so quickly.
Let's wait until the indictment, please! We've seen the Bush Administration systematically dismissing Federal Attorneys unwilling to follow the game plan.
(the New Mexico story just out....and many others.) Let's hold our fire until they demonstrate that they really have something.
