Why the U.S. media make me sick
They are all about speculation and postulation.

Now they are stuck on "Will" Gore run?
Before that it was "Will" Obama run? "Is" the country ready for a black President? "Is" the country ready for a female President? "Can" anyone raise as much money as Hillary Clinton?

When?
Why?
Who?
What?
How?
Will?
Is?

Those are the only words that talking heads use these days, and it's exactly the reason why the general public in this country knows less about what's going on in the world than those in other countries. Everything is a "question," as if the viewers know the answers. There is no news. There is only views.

1. they are there to manipulate you, not inform you.

if you want information you have to go dig for it.

2. It is true that they'd rather speculate on what MIGHT happen than tell you

what HAS happened.

Tom Tomorrow had a cartoon about that years ago, but I'm far too lazy to try and track it down.

3. I've seen all of those questions raised here as well....
The MSM does a shitty job, no doubt. But how many "will Gore run" threads have there been on DU? If they didn't discuss it, they'd be putting their heads in the sand.

4. Agree
I agree. I also think this is why it seems little is done about global warming. First of all, we need to stop arguing about global warming. Whether it exists or not and if it is our fault or not is starting to become irrelevant. No one can prove it either way and if they claim they CAN prove it, they are lying or misinformed. There is enough evidence for both sides to form an opinion but not enough to make a 100% claim.
What we need to do is focus on what CAN be proven. Pollution from CO2 contributes to things like asthma or even cancer. Also, we all know we are going to run out of gas someday and we need to be ready for that. Why not work now to be the innovators for this occurance? I know these two points are pretty weak but arguing global warming is the weakest argument alive. We're getting no where and it is just further separating the two major parties. The U.S. needs to prepare for the future, and the future is alternatives to oil. Here is an American company that has begun work on the future. www.goldstarbiodiesel.com
